I don't think that's it.....

I think sometimes people just don't know what to say. Some of the people who are vocal regarding this kind of thing are now silent for different reasons and some just keep their sadness inside.

I'd guess almost all of us watched / played that race, a lot of us used him or rooted for him, liked him.

Maybe it's that the thread wasn't posted till the following day. Maybe, for the people who were there, it was something they saw in person and really what can you say? Maybe, for some, they feel like what can they add here...

A real shame. He was a nice horse and I'm sorry that he's gone.

I think most of us are.
