Excess Capital

Possibly the fastest career maiden ever, runs again tomorrow, 1st try routing on the turf. From a Thorograph figure standpoint, he should have been winning stakes races running these figs. Will this horse EVER win a race?

Yes, if Joppa's Flatts can win, he will.

Good call on Tiz It. From memory, Tiz It has some 4's, Excess Capital has run four 2's, and three 3's.

I sure hope we won't be adding The Knightly News to this list:)

He's got a shot.
The Acai race looks pretty good on the Bris Ultimate PPs.
Race Rating of 115 indicates a possible classy field of maidens - With a field of 7 maidens deduct some for Excess Capital's influence on the rating, but it did have a very good Acai. Excess Capital received a Class Performance Rating of 117 which is good enough on paper to win some allowance races, and is 2 points higher than anyone else in today's race has ever run.

Excess Capital comes in fresh enough 2nd off the layoff and his 1/09/09 pace ratings hint that he should be in shape (94Early 105E2 and 91Late).

Just looking at form, the closest he has come to breaking maiden in his last 10 has been his been his only two route races (Amped,Acai) and his Turf sprint (Aug). So is he begging for this TURF ROUTE or was he just in a peak form cycle?

In the Amped race, although beaten(once again) by a better horse, Excess Capital at least showed that he can stay on task while racing on the lead. Shooting for the lead here right out of the gate is a possibility, and there is a slight bias favoring the wire-to-wire trip.

After further handicapping of the race, I believe Roman Silver is the horse to beat. In his last, while he had a very good ground saving trip, he didn't get clear until very late, costing him the win.
Excess Capital's turf sprint was a fairly good stalking trip, in which he was badly outkicked in the stretch by a hand-ridden Yield Bogey. His return race a month ago was all too similar to his previous races, earning a strong #, but tiring late. I'll use him defensively.

I bet Roman Silver last time out and Edgar did all he could on the second turn. Marl just got the jump on him laying closer to the pedestrian pace. I think RS will run well today. With him and Manitowish Waters in the race, I think it might be another minor award for Excess Capital. Of course I've been ice cold recently, so this might just be enough to get EC in the winner's circle.

speaking of interesting maidens, Santana Six is back for Zito (the "tough" pacesetter from the Dunkirk maiden), and Eagle Poise makes his debut in GP r10. EP - Frankel triplecrown nom. is Empire Maker out of a stakeswinning Nureyev mare.

Excess Capital finishes fourth. Still a maiden.
