Hamazing Destiny

Didn't run at 2 but won debut MSW at Oaklawn on Feb. 7th by 10.5 lengths in nice racehorse time. Sold a few days ago and new owners moved him to D Wayne Lukas barn. He said no set plans for colt, but the way HD won and the way DWL likes to send his charges out in tough spots, I would be surprised if he didn't turn up in the Rebel or if he goes 1 mile entry-level allowance and then straight to the Ark Derby.

After winning those 2 races, he will enter the Kentucky Derby as "a deserving favorite":p

It was the 8th race that day if anyone wants to check it out.

That's too bad. Sounds like we'll be seeing him in a race very soon, looking like a million bucks to the quarter pole, then folding like a cheap suit...just like nearly every other DWL horse these days.

Fell in love with this horse after checking out the PPs last weekend. I'm a big Mac R. fan and this horse looked well-meant. I didn't realize he'd be as serious as he turned out to be. Was hoping to get a future wager on him, but it fell through, and he's not even nominated for the TC...and doesn't seem bred to go much further than about 6.5 furlongs, so we'll see what happens.

Think he's something special, though. Thanks for posting this. Will be interesting to follow him, as that was one of the most impressive debut performances I've personally seen in a long time and there were a couple of other decent looking runners in there.

Yeah, I'm glad he is running his horses at Oaklawn, but either he or the owners are often overzealous in their expectations. He had a couple of 3 year olds running in the Oaklawn 3 yr old series last year that are back running for $20,000 tag this year. Stone Bird and Red Sandy maybe? Didn't look to have a chance last year and running worse now.

Speaking of butcher-jobs, what the heck happened to Pegasus Wind?

I think Salt Lake is his sire. I don't have a clue about his distance possibilities but he was visually ultra impressive that day to me against obviously weaker. I would have liked to see him stay with Robertson. He has brought several nice horses to Oaklawn the past couple of years and seems to carefully pick his spots.

Oops. Can mods delete this one or move it to the other thread? I did a search but it didn't turn up anything on Hamazing Destiny.

Don't worry -- Barn to Wire is a local message board for Chicago racing....you're good with this one here.

Whatever happened to that Flying First Class? Or Going Wild? Or one of the other 37 hopeless DWL horses still trying to finish a Triple Crown race since he last had a legit contender.

Poor Going Wild. I figured once he got trashed in the Wood they'd back off, but no.

That's what I don't like. I'd be much more optimistic about his chances of becoming something good if he were still in Mac's barn...especially given DWL's recent history with 3yo runners who were special enough going one turn.

I'm all for testing them out and seeing how far they can go if they seem like a good one. I'm not for running them into the ground after it's become obvious to everyone that the horse is not a two-turn stakes horse.

This horse has an 11.00 di. He is a Salt Lake - Artax cross . There is a 3x5 Vice Regent inbreeding . Lots of speed on paper over and under. It'll be interesting to see how he develops .

From Bris today:

Sophomore HAMAZING DESTINY (Salt Lake), who thrashed maiden foes by 10 1/2 lengths at first asking on February 7, worked a mile in 1:44 2/5.

Gosh, I wonder if they have plans to keep him sprinting.

Going Wild stands in Texas.

Lukas did enter him this weekend in the Rebel. Anyone surprised?
