LACK of DIVERSITY FURTHER DEADENS an ALREADY DEAD AQU meet
AQU this winter has to be just about the WORST racing in the country.
And the racing secretary feeding us a steady diet of 6F, 8F, and 1M 70 yard races is not helping the problem. Here's a suggestion: add the 5F (or 5.5F if track setup is an issue) and the 9F races into the mix. There are plenty of horses that either can't get 6F (too long for them) or the shorter route distances. Make is a bit more interesting. (I need the plays on WEDNESDAYS, when TAM, GG, FG, and PHA are dark). |
TFM..
Whoa.. No one will mistake the Inner Meet for Belmont in the Fall or Saratoga, but the racing has been competitive with a fair racetrack and a bunch of hungry, hard-riding jocks. There are a number of new outfits from Rochester, Boston and the Midatlantic making the fields look a bit different than we're used to as well. You're being unduly harsh here. There's been plenty of lucrative opportunities at the AQI so far... And it's really not long until the geese fly north from Gulfstream (post Florida Derby). |
Personally, I have found the meet to be very playable overall. The fields have been decent sizes and competitive, the track has played fair as opposed to the speed bias we are used to and the opportunities have been plentiful. On the contrary, I think the Big A has done a great job this meet.

It's been working well for me.
I don't get the complaint at all. |
I also can't imagine why anyone would want 5F races.

Crapshoots. One misstep/check/slow break and the race is over. |
9 furlongs, but I like more of them at every track.
at least Aqu is drawing decent enough pool size. |
While I appreciate the fair track, I still think that more variety would only make the racing better. And, let's face, there are as many bad horses running in NY than just about anywhere. The beaten lengths for some of these horses are worse than what happens over at TP, for example; which is about as bad as it gets.

I'd like more at 9f but they have carded several 12f races and the configuation limits them to 6f for sprints. I'm not crazy about 5 1/2 f on dirt. It's a tough time of year to put together a card. I think they've done a decent job. Remember, short sprints (5, 5.5f) are harder on horses because they go faster and cheap horses don't hold up to that. Because of this horsemen don't like them unless they have a specialist at the distance.

Lack of diversity just f.ucked me out of the pick 4.
Contessa sucks. I hate that fat f.uck. |

He's ok. Just had to get a winner today though. Grrr. Still hate Contessa. |

In my (very humble) opinion this years AQU Inner and GP have been FAR better than what we have had offered to us for the past few years....
