Robbie Davis to handle daughter's book
In what may be as cathartic a situation as could be imagined, Robbie Davis has returned to the racetrack as agent for his daughter Jackie. Davis retired from the irons prematurely due to incidents that took an emotional and physical toll on him, including the on-track death of Mike Venizia in 1988. Davis was a terrific rider who won nearly 3,400 races in 22 years. He was always a favorite of mine and it was a real pleasure for me to have Jackie on ATR the day she won her first race.
Dave Grening's DRF piece: Keeping promise, Davis now daughter's agent http://www.drf.com/news/article/101434.html Davis, 47, became his daughter's agent last week in part because of a promise he made to her 2 1/2 years ago. When Jackie Davis, 21, told her dad about her desire to become a jockey, she said she wanted him to be his agent. The elder Davis, comfortable in retirement in upstate New York, said he would do it only if his daughter would attend a jockey school, gallop horses for a trainer of his choice, and win five races in New York. |
Wait...so Jacqueline has been stopped up...or Robbie? And wouldn't a colon cleanser have sufficed?
