I finally read exoctic betting (I made a vow to be a better player this year). I am also going to try to focus more on pick 3's & 4's, so I am trying to sharpen up in time for the meets that I really like to play (Hollywood, Belmont, Saratoga & Monmouth). Hence the play along tickets. I'm trying to keep them to reasonable levels that I would really play and could afford.
These are play along.

6/5,6,9/3,7/1,6,7 $18
6,8/5,6,8/3,5/1,6,7 $36 edit the 1 in the first leg is scratched

That's the way to do it Matt. Practice makes perfect. You find yourself hitting a few of these, you'll get sucked into the Tampa vortex.

Of course, with a result like that in the 7th, it makes you want to run far away from this track.

That was baffling.

Octavio Bernal outrides Cardoso and Martinez to get a 96.00 horse home in the first leg. Nice.

The quality of the jock colony here is bordering on pathetic. It's these crap races where you lose the Homeisters, Centenos, Montalvos et al. that the nonsensical bombs blow up the P4.

That was completely unexplainable.

I go deep in the 8th and the chalk rolls home....

On a positive note, I really like a couple horses tomorrow. In fact the whole card looks very playable.

I wouldn't have been close today anyway. Some of the connections are new for me there (not knowing if some of the lesser known trainers are live). It does seem that they have their share of stiffs (jockey wise) down there too. But are the sequances always this brutal? I guess cheaper horses are less formful (not to mention that every race has about 9 horses) and it makes things even harder. But that 5 today was absolutely unplayable, 47-1 was probably a bit short for her. But the payouts are definately intriguing and at those prices it would only take one to make the meet a profitable one.

Yes, they are this brutal most of the time and yes, the cheaper horses are less formful. The big fields at Tampa are their drawing card for value players. Tough place to get a handle on, but as you noticed, the payouts are very nice most of the time.
