1989 Derby trivia question: Antley, or Andress, on Shy Tom?

I fell asleep early after good Christmas food, family, fun and cheer. I'm now awake in the middle of the night for a bit, and tossed in a tape of the 1989 Kentucky Derby ABC telecast.

Chris Antley was interviewed and broadcast as the rider on Shy Tom, but the Derby chart at KentuckyDerby.com shows Walter Andress as the finishing rider.

I'm almost to the end of the telecast, and have heard no mention that Antley came off Shy Tom on race day.

Does the chart just have it majorly wrong?

One poignant point of the 1989 telecast is when Charlsie Canty and Jim McKay are holding Pat Valenzuela and Chris Antley up as fine 1989 examples for others that it's possible to overcome drug addiction and resume doing great things in life.

thats odd, according to MOST charts chris antley was the rider. On others andress was the Jock.

Going a bit further using your link, you find that Walter Andress rode in two other Kentucky Derby's:

a 16th place finish with Booker Bill in 1915, and a 14th place finish on Berlin in 1917

You are absolutely correct, of course.

Odd as heck that kentuckyderby.com would have such a major miscue in what one would think could have come from a copy and paste of nearly 20 year old events.
