And We Think OUR Voters Are Stupid?

Can someone, anyone, please explain this logic to me. In the voting for the Canadian racing champions, Not Bourbon is named the champion 3yo male by a 172-155 margin over Fatal Bullet. In the HOY voting, Fatal Bullet is the runaway winner by a 177-76 margin over Rahy's Attorney. Not Bourbon doesn't even finish in the top three. So how does a horse not even get named as the top 3yo but is the runaway winner for HOY? Almost makes me want to say 'God bless the Eclipse Award voters'. Almost.

Could it be that Not Bourban is a Canadian bred and Fatal Bullet is KY bred? I wouldn't dismiss Not Bourban too quickly I think he has a shot of being a pretty decent 4 yr old whether it's in Canada or The U.S.

The point is How does Fatal Bullet get HOY and not the divisional title. It's like making Big Brown the HOY and overlooking him as 3yo champ. (This is NOT an endorsement of BB for HOY!)

Watch Idiocracy.

I did check the Sovereign Awards requirements and the only stipulation is a horse has to race 3 times in Canada to qualify, 2 times for a 2 yr old. You do not have to be a Canadian bred to win. I'm going to stick my neck out tonight and say I wouldn't be surprised if these 2 meet up next year Not Boubon will be more than a handful for Fatal Bullet.

Obviously, both of them qualified. If the voters decided that Fatal Bullet wasn't better than Not Bourbon and wasn't the best 3yo, how does it make any sense to vote Fatal Bullet as the HOY? That is the question. The two of them are totally different horses. Not Bourbon would be no match for Fatal Bullet in a sprint and Fatal Bullet would be no match for him in a route.
