Arnie Duncan - A great pick and a guy, one of few, who was willing to butt heads w/Da Mayor while head of Chicago Public Schools. Not a 'Chicago Machine' pawn at all. This guy is perfect for the job. IMO

maybe he is a great pick, but i must be missing something. what is it about the Chicago public schools that we want to copy over to the national level?

or was it mainly that he was a Harvard school chum, neighbor, and basketball partner of Obama?

I saw some good things written about him so I have an open mind, but jeez you would think that you pull people from systems that are acheiving something.

That is what I thought but I guess the CPS has taken great strides recently according to the news. I have a friend that teaches for the CPS and he told me a while back that things were getting better.....
