Anyone from/familiar with NYC?

I've been there a few times (Broadway, Times Square) but it's been a looooong time...I'm looking for some "inside" info regarding the Filmore...I have googled the route from PA to the place but:
1) how big is it (Filmore, not NYC)?
2) what is traffic like?
3) parking?
4) anything else helpful?

Are you talking about the Fillmore east?

somerfrost 12-04-2008 05:16 PM

Yes

Fillmore East, 17 Irving Place ...sorry about the spelling

I am pretty sure it closed a long time ago....ask Andy S...i am sure he would know....i have been living in Texas for a long time now.
But i used to go there almost every weekend, when living in NY, way back when.

It did close, but, I believe they reopened in a new location, maybe was a theater of something. People protested as it could never be the real Filmore. That's all I know....

No...wrong place. I'm familiar with the old Fillmore East, that's back in "my" era, this place is current...I just bought tickets to a concert there.

If you are talking about the theater on Irving Place which I believe you are, it is a small theater. Street parking is not really an option as there are some alternate side of the street parking spots in the neighborhood, but hard to find. There are plenty of parking garages in the area, but they are expensive and start around $20 for the first hour. I am not sure how much they charge overnight, but probably somewhere between $30 and $50. The traffic is heavy from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., but not that bad during night hours. Hope this is helpful.
