Really Stupid Question

Guys, this is an all time 'stupid' for me but I'm having a huge lapse in memory. Will Empire Maker's first foals be juveniles this summer or next? Have any raced yet? How do they look?

From Juddmonte's website, looks like they're yearlings? I could be wrong, but that's the oldest they have posted.

That sounds right, I think

2003 - Retired
2004 - Knocks up many mares. They get pregnant
2005 - Babies Born
2006 - Yearlings
2007 - Juveniles

TitanSooner 08-02-2006 11:56 AM

the oldest they can be is yearlings

retired at 3 in 2003
stud at 4 in 2004
foaled in 2005
yearlings in 2006

paisjpq 08-02-2006 11:56 AM

entered stud for 04 season so his first foals are yearlings--I would bet there are foal pics on Juddmonte's website.
whoops..a little late...
BUT--he should have some selling @ sar. next week, you can watch the auction live online and see them yourself

TitanSooner 08-02-2006 11:56 AM

beat me to it :)

His first foals are yearlings of 2006. He has three in the select sale at Saratoga next tuesday/wednesday.

Watch for the price on the colt out of the Seattle Slew mare next week. Should fetch quite a few dollars.

Looks really nice, especially for the weeds.

I'm forget Empire Maker's problems....was it feet? There is a very similarly bred colt in 112 (compared to 153)

paisjpq 08-02-2006 12:21 PM

yeah he had foot issues--abscesses and such...
to be honest i am not EM's biggest fan and would definitely prefer the other colt...of course that is without seeing either of them so it is not a real evaluation.

Anyone check out #125. EM filly 1/2 to Monarchos?

sumitas 08-02-2006 03:20 PM

they've chosen to inbreed the Mr Prospector, the Northern Dancer, in his 3 foals. None are crossed with a Fappiano.
