Yeah, he really looked great. He broke like a debuting 2yo quarter horse starting on the rail.

Kasept 11-27-2008 10:25 PM

Timber Reserve is a SCRATCH from the Clark..

Commentator looked one week short to me.

You must have been chomping at the bit for weeks to use that one!

Commentator showed the heart of a lion once again. It's good to see him back burning $$.

I'm a little slow, so please try to explain this carefully, but how exactly is a horse that is 13 for 21, and has returned $2.88 for every $2 wagered on him over his career, considered a money burner?

But, belated congrats for picking Einstein, and against Commentator, as even though I missed your pre-race post, I'm sure it's somewhere on this board. Please link me to it.

Please tell me that you don't go THIS in depth on specific horses and you pulled his PP and figured out the math. That is a SERIOUS stat right there.

Money Burning:

2008 Clark, 2-5 favorite, finishes 3rd.
2008 Met Mile, 6-5 favorite, finishes 2nd(though I thought this was his best effort)
2007 Vanderbilt, chalk, finishes 6th
2007 Tom Fool, 1-2 favorite, finishes 3rd
2006 Forego, even $$ favorite, finishes 10th

No, I did not have Einstein. I didn't think Commentator would lose the race. I said I was glad to see him back.

That's an embarrassing post....even for the internet.

You chose five of his eight career losses....and left out his 13 wins. Congratulations. Only Sumitas can beat you for worst post of the day. Here's hoping!

A Money Burner, by the way, is a horse that is almost always a short price and virtually NEVER wins.

thats the lamest breakdown of his races possible..dont be haten on commentator ..hes proven his worth far past most of the last 3 years of horses in his path.. to cake 44

cakes44 12-02-2008 09:44 AM

Alright, alright...money burner is way too strong a term for a horse that has made as much $$ for his connections as Commentator has. I'll also admit that I have a strong bias because of getting burned by him. I am still looking forward to getting some of that $$ back beating him as a 2-5 or 3-5 favorite though. I definitely missed in the Clark in every which way possible, but there will be another opportunity or two.

OK, you're off the hook, as you have now broken the cardinal internet rule of ever admitting any possibility you might be wrong.

Thanks.

Don't you wish they gelded more horses? There might be a real industry if (of course its fantasy land) colts couldn't start breeding until after they became 4 year olds.
