Say it ain't so Vic.. (The Soupy Sales Thread)

Did I hear that clearly?

Vic Stauffer didn't just open the HOL 1st, when the #6 broke sharply, with "Soupy 'sails' off to an early lead.."

Uggh...

Vic Stauffer is a very clever man. I think he's a genius.

Now that is a great opening (and Soupy won - yea Soupy!)... I wonder how many folks here will get that Steve? There are a lot of youngsters on here... ;)

Pretty bad huh? I think I need a life. But yes I'm guilty. Didn't think anyone noticed then five minutes after the race the horse himself calls me and asks me to mail him 5 bucks! What up with that??

Vic..

It was great. I laughed. The 5 spot is in the mail, though I think the reference Sales over 90% of the crowd...

The guys from Mystery Science Theater 3000 don't worry about who gets the joke. There is always someone out there that does. I'm sure the 10% enjoyed it enough for all.

I remember him mostly from The Hollywood Squares, but having kids take that green paper out of their parents pants and mail it to him is as good as it gets.

my father told me a story about soupy once.. that he did a show(live) and in one episode--i guess there was a puppet...anyway, soupy held up a paper with an F on it. the puppet said K. soupy said no, and held up the f and said F. K was always the reply. finally soupy said 'how come every time i say f you see k? he was immediately off the air.

The reference "Sales" over 90 percent of the crowd! Get it, "sales?"

I laughed.

Scav 11-13-2008 08:51 AM

I will admit that I have zero idea what it means...

Gate Dancer 11-13-2008 08:54 AM

I love the MST3K reference................as for Soupy, I got everything but the 5-1 payoff (darn)

philcski 11-13-2008 09:50 AM

Wasn't that the guy who told kids to send in the green paper in their parents' purses as a joke, and he actually received a bunch of money?

Some thought it wasn't a joke. Big scandal.
