Albertrani might win the Haskell and the Travers
 

I know everyone is bashing Albertrani, but if you look at the Haskell you have to give Deputy Glitters a real shot here. He is definitely my pick.


In addition to Deputy Glitters, others expected in the Haskell are Kentucky Derby and Belmont Stakes runner-up Bluegrass Cat and Dwyer winner Strong Contender - the two likely favorites - as well as Awfully Smart, Electrify, Flashy Bull, Praying for Cash and Seaside Retreat.

Anyone know what happened to Sinister Minister?...Baffert was supposed to point him for this race...I guess something happened? Anybody?

Good luck is all I can say. You might nail Jennifer Aniston but I sure wouldn't bet on it!!!

I am going to guess Baffert fried the horse and there is nothing left. Putting that horse and Keyed Entry in the derby were the biggest mistakes I have ever seen Baffert and Pletcher make. They ruined two excellent horses.

No, that horse was doing sensational at CD before the Derby and I heard he exited the Derby well.....KEE didn't bother him a bit...

Seaside Retreat is out.....

Seaside Retreat out of Haskell

The probable Haskell field was reduced to seven when trainer Mark Casse opted to keep Seaside Retreat in Canada.

Seaside Retreat, who finished 10th in the Kentucky Derby, most recently ran second in the Virginia Derby on the turf.

Casse said he plans to run Seaside Retreat on the grass in either the Grade 1 Secretariat Stakes at Arlington Park against 3-year-olds on Aug. 12 or the Grade 2 Nijinsky Stakes against older horses at Woodbine on Aug. 27. On Tuesday, Casse said he was leaning toward the Nijinsky.

"He's got to face the older horses sooner or later, and we might as well do it here at home," Casse said.

In addition to Flashy Bull and Deputy Glitters, the Haskell lineup includes Bluegrass Cat, Strong Contender, Praying for Cash, Awfully Smart, and Electrify.

you may very well be right.

She actually came back to win 2 grade 1's, the Acorn and the Mother Goose.

I don't know, but if I had to guess I would say that the owners of Keyed Entry were more responsible than Pletcher. That horse had already proven that he wanted no part of 9f, let alone 10....and he had no business in the Derby. My guess would be that the owners wanted to take a shot.

As for SinMin, I can't really blame his connections for taking a shot. Sure, most of us knew that the horse had no chance running 10f away from Keeneland, but if I had a horse that won a major Derby prep THAT impressively (no matter what track it was on) I think it would be pretty difficult to skip the Derby. And there too, Baffert kept saying that the horse was fried, so I bet the owners were the ones who really wanted to run him there.

Good old Keyed Entry...poor boy backed up faster than GPK trying to get out of the Blue Oyster on Derby Day. Then again, pacesetters in the Derby can have decent careers going short later in life....see Spanish Chestnut.

How did Spanish Chesnut look on opening day, I missed the race?
I know he finished 3rd but did he run well? I absolutely loved him in that spot and was glad to see I saved money because I was out of town.

You know, I didn't even pay attention to how he ran. I know he looked decent in that little Keeneland sprint that Sun King won from WAY off the pace back on Bluegrass day.

Ya Slot, thats a reason I liked him. I was against him that day at Keeneland and was surprised and impressed the way he hung on for 3rd being involved in the pace that day. I thought he could speed pop the field on opening day if he broke well. That day at Keeneland, it had to be a very tough loss if you needed Kazoo. He looked so home in mid stretch. Ouch, I know a few guys who needed Kazoo for huge scores.

I'm betting Spanish Chestnut next out.

Deputy Glitters was destroyed yesterday by Bluegrass cat and a Mr Todd Pletcher. Glitters just finished a minute ago.

Thread now needs to be chnaged to Pletcher might win the Haskell and the Travers.
This will be the quickest that Bernadini has ever run back. Deputy Glitters came back yesterday and it was a train wreck of a performance. Bright One looks to have a huge career ahead of him and may indeed try the Travers as well. Bernadini is not going to get a walkover either in competition or with the pace.

Note to Bold Fraud,
Deputy Glitters was defeated by over 32 lengths. Apparently running a horse back on less than 5 weeks rest does not appear to be this trainers strong point.
The horse you are so in love with will be running back with as little rest as he had ever had. Start sweating.

Actually Bernardini won the Preakness 21 days after winning the Withers.

At least pick someone a little more out of everyone's league... :p
