Major Announcement by Godolphin

In a stunning and sudden switch in philosophy, the head of Godolphin racing announced today that they will no longer be sending their prized 2yo purchases over to winter in Dubai in preparation for the Triple Crown series. In making the announcement, he said he has come to the conclusion that the best opportunity for the horses to give them the one victory that has escaped their grasps, the Kentucky Derby, would come by leaving them here in America to prepare and train. He said that this year's two top contenders, Vineyard Haven and Midshipman would be given the rest of the year off and would be starting off next year with traditional American preps being planned. Vineyard Haven will remain in the hands of Bobby Frankel but Midshipman will be switched to the care of Todd Pletcher. He didn't give any specific reasons as to why Midshipman was taken away from Bob Baffert but he did conclude his announcement by saying that he's very confident in his chances of finally attaining the elusive Derby victory, citing the tremendous records of success in the Derby compiled by Frankel and Pletcher (because they don't winter in Dubai) and seemingly admitting that his way is a failure.

All in fun.

Pletcher will get a derby winner before a Godolphin runner that wintered in Dubai does dude.

Midshipman to pletcher? 3 derbys isnt enough of a resume for Baffert to keep him

LOL. You know you didn't post this in fun, KG. For all the horses the sheik buys, their failures are astronomical. Why is that? They buy the best youngsters the U.S. has to offer and have done so for a while. If they would leave their young horses with the trainers who got them to the point of the sheik paying these ridiculous prices, they might ultimately be successful.
As long as Godolphin has Suroor as their trainer, they can buy every colt in the U.S. Every friggin' colt in this country. Suroor stinks as a trainer. The successes that Godolphin has enjoyed has been through American trainers. Is there not something to this? They have just bought the top two two yr. old colts. Whooptedooo. I could care less about the colts that have Godolphin's name on them.
Since Zenyatta will be running in '09, my racing world will be centered around her. Again.

You need to get a few things straight Suroor has nothing to do with day to day training of the Godolphin horses he is a program trainer only. Plus the majority of Godolphin's top horses never see this country that's why they have win well over a 100 Group 1 races in Europe in the past 10 years or so.

Oh yea I took King's post in Fun Infact I was kind of Laughing as I was reading it.

It helped that I just got through reading about Baffert saying Midshipman was heading to Dubai. I got to enjoy the OP in all its glory.
