Think handicapping cup is easy?

There were 30 professional handicappers listed in todays racing form with all their top selections. Of todays 9 races, 2 of the cappers picked 3 winners on top, 7 picked 2 winners, 14 only managed 1 winner, and 7 pros with no winners chosen on top. just proving the point its not always easy even for the pros

What makes them a "pro" anyways??

Do you have to be some sort of career loser money list or something?

I have known horse players my entire life, and some very good ones at that, NONE are ahead. If anyone claims that they are ahead, they are an effing liar. Just my opinion....

pro= paid by the drf to make theier selections

I noted the same.

Not sure of the home turf of the other handicappers, but I got a kick that Chuck Dybdal included Bold Chieftain in his top 3 in the 4th. Chuck is a local newspaper handicapper and I guess DRF commenter for the Bay Area tracks. And of course Bold Chieftain is a Bay Area connected horse.

May be some other home town influences in those selections.

Steve Crist and Andy Beyer ( nailed the Classic in his column ) did pretty well.

beyer did show raven pass on top, but crist did not show in his top 3 selections

I came up with only 4 winners on top between 2 days. They were Stardom Bound, Zenyatta, Muhannak and Goldikova for little value. Westphalia and Heart Shaped caused me to turn on Murtaugh for life. Albertus Maximus and Maram were my second choice as were Midshipman and Conduit. Ventura was my 3rd choice.

It was a "close but..." series for me.

It's was probably the best BC yet for me, selection wise and wagering wise. Three winners on top (Zenyatta, Goldikova & Midshipman) with two "value" plays winning also (Muhannek 12-1 & Donativum 5-1). Ventura, Maram, Stardom Bound, Together Forvever, Midnight Lute as exotic uses. Cashed on every type of wager but a pick 3 or 4. Even cashed a few "huge" show wagers.

You need to go apply for the DRF Mark..Your obvioulsly better then most of them anyhow.. Congrats on having a profitable day:) Your one of the few.

BC day is always tough, plus i'm sure many of those "pro" cappers had no idea about how SA plays cause they are busy following their own tracks.

Am I missing something here? What on earth did Murtagh do wrong on Westphalia? Surely he gave it a plum ride and was beaten by a better horse, no?

Thanks :) it's usually the other way around most "big" days though.

Steve Crist quote

"It was an excellent two days of racing"

I don't know if he was talking about betting or the event.
