Can you be an independent and vote for McCain?

At this point I just don't see how anyone who is truly an independent can vote for McCain. His most recent idea of buying out everyone's mortgage, which was too liberal even for me, had to drive away any of his remaining support. The only remaining independent supporters for McCain have to be Republicans that haven't bothered to register with the party.

Shouldn't surprise anyone that he is trying anything n' everything. This("my friends" ) is a true Machiavellian Square Dancer. He was against the Bush tax cuts for the rich, and now he is for it. He said the fundamentals of the economy are good, and then a few hours later he said the economy had major problems, (said he was referring to the American workers.... when he was talking about the fundamentals of the economy.) So, most are not dumb enough to buy that, but to lie is better(to a Machiavellian) than to admit your wrong about the economy. This is also why he has someone for V.P. that looks n' talks like a Century 21 real estate agent. He couldn't stand Obama getting so much attention the morning after his Stadium speech in Denver. So, being the little Machiavellian that he is, he selected the most attention-getting person he could find. Anything to get the attention off of Obama. Well, it was interesting, and she's entertaining(for the wrong reasons,) but people don't want someone that knows this little about national and international affairs. To be honest, that's not really her fault. She's the hockey mom Governor of a sparsely populated state in the middle of nowhere. Unlike some Governors, she has never shown an interest in national or international politics, and didn't even know what a Vice President is supposed to do. He made this mess because he wanted a quick solution to a problem at the time the selection was made. Like a spoiled child, he ignored the future consequences of a decision. He just wanted his way at the time. He reacted (without thinking about the future consequences.) He doesn't really think. He reacts.

I don't think Palin was the downfall. I just didn't like all the mudslinging ads they let air about Obama. If you think you're the better candidate, why not concentrate on what you yourself would do, instead of implying your opponent is a terrorist?

Because the McCain campaign is in real trouble.
The only way to pull the election out is to scare
the crap out of people.

We have two choices....both not too good. But seriously, if Mcain were to croak, that lady would be President? You have got to be kidding...I would imagine ALOT of people are on the same page as me.

James...I have mentioned the CIA has an emergency plan should that happen.

Don't let trifles get in your way.

Historical observation: US voters have elected three sitting members of Congress to serve as their president: Garfield, Harding, and Kennedy. None lived to complete his term with two being assassinated. Harding had what most historians agree as the most corrupt presidency ever. History does not suggest that either McCain or Obama will offer great leadership and, therefore, will serve only one term.

history also suggests they may be assassinated also which would be much worse for them then losing the election in 2012

this is unbelievably weak logic.

obama may serve 1 term but if that occurs it will have everything to do with events in the future and nothing to do with this nonsensical voodoo.

he has 5 letters in his last name like nixon. i guess that means he'll probably have to resign to avoid impeachment.

So McCain dies of old age, Palin is taken out by the CIA, and we end up with Pelosi?????

Or Obama dies from lung cancer (he is a smoker) or is killed in office, Biden dies from old age, and we end up with Pelosi?????

Mortimer 10-12-2008 03:37 PM

I try to forget her every day but her mug keeps popping up on tv as a frightening reminder.
Then again it is Halloween.
