Trips and Traps

Starting tomorrow, with a new segment weekly, we will be doing a roughly twenty minute segment for the NYRA Youtube site called " Trips and Traps. " The show will cover roughly six races from the previous week at whichever NYRA track is running with trip comments and some horses to watch. There will be a link on nyra.com.

As always, I welcome any input or suggestions.

Brilliant idea BTW. Looking forward to watching it and learning more about what to look for within a race.

Sounds like a terrific idea and something that more tracks should be trying. I'll be watching for sure.

We're not filming until tomorrow morning. Check www.nyra.com during the day tomorrow.

We filmed the show this morning but there must be some delay in getting it on the site. It should be up tomorrow.

WHAT ABOUT HIS RIDE IN THE 9TH ?

GPK 09-19-2008 04:47 AM

Good stuff Andy. Just watched Part I. Thanks for the link.

golfer 09-19-2008 05:57 AM

Andy, do you have the technology to insert arrows or highlight the key horse?

The picture quality on my computer is lacking a bit, and that combined with my color blindness makes it difficult for me to follow the key horse.
I would assume others may have the same problem (computer monitor, not color blindness).

blackthroatedwind 09-19-2008 05:59 AM

Hopefully we will highlight in the future. It's not always easy but we'll figure something out.

TheSpyder 09-19-2008 07:17 AM

Very interesting. I would suggest giving more detail of the horses in question as on some computers (speed) it's very hard to distinguish cap color and location in the race. Slow motion is excellent used on first race. Arrows would be good.

Also, listing horses on screen at the end with name, trainer, and jock that day would make it easier to keep track and record info for future.

Otherwise very useful horse racing information.

Thanks Andy

magic_idol 09-19-2008 08:04 AM

........And could you get the horse & jockey that is going to win @ it's next start to raise his riding crop or if thats too obvious maybe get the horse to wink so i can bet on it & make Lotsa:$: ;) Just J/king

Adding text and graphics (arrows and such) to video is pretty easy, once you have some familiarity with it.

There are tons of programs out there that will do this.

www.videohelp.com for everything you conceivably want to know how to do with any form of video.

the_fat_man 09-20-2008 11:35 AM

A lot of LAZY mofo's here. How about actually firing up a BETTER replay and watching the race again with the comments of the experts in mind?

Last thing these guys need is to be editing video. Should be enough that they're sharing some INVALUABLE information (and techniques).
