L'ville hotels.

Can anyone suggest somewhere close yet inexpensive near Churchill Downs ?
I'm heading up for Thanksgiving weekend for the final days of the meet and would like to know a decent area to stay.

I stayed at the Hurstbourne Days Inn for the last Breeders' Cup and that was fine however 12 miles away.

Thanks in advance.

not sure your budget...depends on what you're looking for. me and the kids decided on a whim to go up for one of sumwons races, stayed at the super eight right across the street from the lousville cardinal cafe. was an almost brand new place, certainly not a five star joint but it was nice enough for that kind of rush trip. it was only maybe a mile from the track so we walked to churchill.

Stay at the boat in Indiana, the tables are ice cold but it is an easy ride to Churchill.....

Our basketball team stays at the Hilton Garden Inn right across the street, right next to the Super 8 and in the same parking lot as the Cardinal place. Great inexpensive hotel and great location. :tro: :tro: :tro:

Good job with the Omari pickup. Not the most athletically gifted kid in the world, but he's a player.

Parking lot of Crackside Louisville.

You could always sleep in Wagner's parking lot. That way you would have the jump on the breakfast crowd. That is of course if your still alive come morning.

Hotels won't exactly be "expensive" anywhere in L-ville in the middle of November. How much are you willing to spend? I can't imagine even the downtown Marriott would be that unaffordable.

VOL JACK 09-10-2008 09:01 AM

the courtyard by marriot is a $100. nice place.

31, will you be at the track on thanksgiving?

TheSpyder 09-10-2008 04:49 PM

Go to Expedia or similar and look at Louisville Airport hotels. Many to choose from and 10 minutes from the track.

This will be more expensive than similar in the area but agree, great place with the Cardinal a walk away.

Not Thanksgiving day but the Friday and Saturday after.

Thanks for everyone's input.

You should check to see if UofL plays at home that weekend. If they do, you will not find a hotel close to the racetrack for very cheap. They do not play at home, try any hotel on Crittenden drive. There are about 4-5 hotels there for your choosing. Also check Southern Indiana as well. That is a real short drive to the track. There is also a Holiday Inn on 3rd and Broadway that isnt too bad. Good luck

I checked and they don't. Thanks for the heads up though.
