Are you ****IN kidding me?

No inquiry by the stewards and NO HEADON review? Insufficient evidence?

Clearly in the rear shot, Backseat Rhythm came in badly and bothered Pure Clan.

WTF is going on?

What's interesting is that the headon of the race is not a true headon and you don't get a clear idea of how much BR actually came in. You get a much better sense from the rear shot and by looking at the path (the turf) or the horses feet in the headon replay. BR is supposed to come down here.

As much as I hate for our filly to have run second today, I think Castellano had a brilliant ride on B.R. today. He sat right off her flanks then made his move at the most crucial time. I give B.R. her props today. Now.....well see what she's got in Arcadia!

While I don't think she fouled her enough to warrant a DQ, there certainly should have been an inquiry, especially if you consider Monday's absolutely ABSURD DQ where there was no contact whatsoever and the horse that was disqualified maintained her path the entire way around the track. These stewards are beyond incompetent.

there was an objection, they reviewed it and let it stand.

The problem, actually, is that no one really knows whether PC was fouled enough to warrant a DQ as THERE IS NO DIRECT HEADON SHOT of the race.

The rear shot, shown during the inquiry, clearly showed that BR came in SIGNIFICANTLY.

Here's what I think:

1) if a track doesn't have the technology in the proper position then they should not be DQing anyone; everything should be allowed

2) a steward needs to be aware of exactly what costs a horse a race; being knocked off a particular lead because of an incident, late in a drive, is enough, in most cases, to get a horse beaten by 1/2 length. a horse causing another horse to have to alter stride (change leads) should be taken down.

From the headon, it appears that PC was knocked off stride (from righty to lefty). And BR was coming in badly enough to where Castellano had to jerk her from righty to lefty lead to get her off.

I think you should contact NYRA and offer to fix their "Technology Problem"

This is where I think they fail. They don't seem to agree on what costs a horse a placing (not necessarily JUST the whole race).

I still am smarting from Monday's DQ, and decided not to play today because of it.

It was a correct call....BR didnt come in much at all....Leparoux was going for the hole that was tight and their was contact by both horses. But to take the horse down would have been ridiculous. I am sick of people calling for DQ's everytime a horse bumps another horse.

If you want to see a real bad DQ take a look at AP's 7th race today...an abolute horrendous call taking the place horse down.

The correct horse was awarded the appropriate placing.

Thanks cowgirl.

From what I could see from the replay there's no doubt Backstreet Rhythm bothered Pure Clan, however without the head on view, it would be impossible for the stewards to substantiate the DQ, in essence they made the right decision. One thing is for sure Pure Clan did not get the best of it in the stretch.

What bothers me is the lack of consistency in the calls, I know we have 2 sides here, one for less dq's and others that want more calls. I just want the best horse to win or atleast the horse that was doing no wrong to get the benefit of the doubt, we had that discussion with the non dq of Country Star 3 weeks ago. Where the Motion horse was running her race and Country Star was zigging and zagging, to me that non call was wrong. One horse was running straight the other was clearly not and the margin of victory was a slim one where a little interference can make the difference.
