Lieutenant Ron and Never Retreat

Anybody know what is going on with these two in Kiaran's barn?

Lt. Ron is ready to go. . . they're looking for a sprint and then they'll stretch him out.

Interesting. He has taken quite a bit of money in the BC futures in the BC Mile. Not really sure what he can do on the synthetic, but he could be really interesting in a race like the Cigar Mile or maybe the Clark.

Lieutenant Ron will be running this weekend in a 2 other than allowance should be an easy time for him as he looks forward to bigger and better things........

Horses that run by appointment only and are very short prices can prove expensive to one's bankroll ( see Kip Deville this weekend ).

Lieutenant Ron is extremely talented and, seemingly, just as fragile. I wish him well, and hope he can stay sound, but from a betting perspective I would be very careful.

I agree with you on the betting. I don't think you'll get even money on him. I was wondering at what track or betting site that he was on for the Breeders Cup.. This would make more sense.....

A horse that is hoping to make just his third career start in almost a year feels like about as a bad a BC future bet as you could find.

Or Divine Park in the Whitney, however there are a select few that seem to thrive on it.

I dissagree, now would be the time to bet him. At long odds. If a trainer like KM says he is the best 3yr old in the Country that's all I need to know to put a few bucks on him. The trouble is I can't find the bet anywhere.

blackthroatedwind 09-09-2008 09:55 AM

Let's say they are pointing to the BC mile. What exactly do you think his realistic chances are of making the race and being good enough to win? Honestly, the race is six weeks from this weekend, which means if he were to run he would probably come in with three career races in a year. Plus, if the race is oversubscribed he won't even get in.

I guess if you can get 150:1 it would be a fair bet. Good luck with that.

Here's a more likely scenerio......if he runs well this weekend they point to the Sports Page, at 7F on BC day in NY ( I believe ), and then if he does well there they will go to the Cigar Mile.

The plans are the Jerome Handicap on the 5th. That would give them 3 weeks to the Breeders Cup. It's possible, and I will take 150-1 if you'll give it to me.

So, a horse that debuted in April, returned six months later, and is now returning in another five months, is suddenly going to run three times in six weeks?

I'm beginning to want to lay 150:1.

CSC 09-09-2008 10:18 AM

Obcourse I mean't the Woodward and not the Whitney for Divine Park.

You are probably right but who thought the Giants would win the Super Bowl after they lost to Green Bay and were 0-2 last year. Nice chatting with you I have to go to work and make some money so I can bet L Ron....Later.

Then you can factor in the odds of winning the dirt mile from the 9-hole on out at Santa Anita and the good chance of a horse drawing those posts.

Which would be a reasonable and good plan, except.. remember who owns this horse. If there's a remote chance of him being OK to go to the BC for anything, West Point will want to go and press KMc to send him...

hrfan 09-14-2008 12:46 AM

i hope ron can rate, if not he has his hands full early in here...
either way i think sixthirteen wins this race.

blackthroatedwind 09-15-2008 05:58 AM

150:1 anyone?

geof 09-15-2008 10:27 AM

150-1 L-Ron

Wow did he look bad. Right from the start he was not into it. He loaded bad and ran bad. He also looked a little washy. I owe you one.
