he decided to sell Stonerside because no one was interested in buying the Texans.

I wouldnt knock the Texans. They finished 8-8 in probably the toughest division in the NFL.

:D

I imagine the money from the Texans is less risky

HaloWishingwell 09-01-2008 02:47 PM

wait until they start drawing fans away from the Cowgirls

Pretty funny (funny meaning sad), must have been a monster offer. McNair has more money then sin yet was swayed either by boredom of the sport or a very lucrative offer.

wapete 09-01-2008 06:16 PM

that was easily a $250 million + deal

heard someone on HRTV suggest it was more like $500 million

deltagulf 09-02-2008 08:41 PM

have to pay for the new stadium.
he owns the texans.

Interesting how expediently the deal was done. Both John Ferguson and Adger commented on this. Whatever the number was -- it was huge. Between this purchase, the Down Under deal of mass proportions, and the purchase of numerous US stallions -- this is now an operation and empire that has incredible world-wide presence and the ramifications are perhaps unimaginable.

Many people have often said that when "one" gets bigger than the "whole" -- very little, perhaps zero, good can come from it.

I look forward to the day where we have a 12 horse field and all the horses are owned by Darley, all the horses were bred by Darley, and the race is sponsored by Darley.

brockguy 09-03-2008 02:59 PM

last year he was buying a handful of horses for big money and it was making all the headlines. Now he is buying whole farms all over the world for massive money and it isnt really making the same waves..

The best bit of business he did this year was buy Andre Fabre's yard and up the number of horses he sends to him while reducing the numbers Fabre can train for other owners, in particular Coolmore..

and yet still manage to lose! :D but if he buys enough, they're bound to win more than they have been lately...

Coach Pants 09-03-2008 05:28 PM

He'll never have 12 horses in a race...He is lucky to have 12 runners a meet.

rkinnin 09-03-2008 05:43 PM

Will Kiran McLaughlin pick up any new horses because of the purchase?
