Saratoga Race 2 today

A lot of people will focus on the Asmussen (Thats a Good Thing) in here, but I would suggest watching the replay of that race. Retriever battled for the early lead through pretty quick fractions and was bounced around pretty bad, then not perservered on in his career debut, while Thats a Good Thing enjoyed a perfect trip sitting just behind the speed duel. With two good works since and the blinkers coming off, I think Retriever is a good bet in here at the 6-1 ML. Going to play to win plus doubles of 2,6,7 with 1, whom I think has finally found a field she can beat in the 3rd (I expect the 3-1 ML to hold or even drift up there as the trainer has a grand total of 1 win on the year.)

Goodluck today, sounds like good reasoning. I haven't looked but one thing I do know is if Asmussen doesn't win by his second start, they are usually not that well mean't and they end up at a track like Lonestar or something. His 1st and second start stats are outer-worldly for the amount of starters he has.

Looking at the chart for the race, the horse I'd want back would be Madison Heights, who dueled with Retriever early, dropped that one easily, then was there till the end, battling gamely with horses that got much better trips.

Very much agree, but Madison Heights is in the 5th, which is a firster-laden group which could be any kind. Wouldn't be the first time Maker won at the meet with a horse that moved from MCL's to MSW's though, and a must use in pick wagers.

Pretty indifferent 3rd with a much better trip... NOT :$:

What didn't make sense is that they took the blinkers off the horse, then still tried for the lead. And he was basically pumped from the gate to the wire.

Wonder what happens if Chavez is able to get Frosty Diamond to change leads a little bit earlier than just before the wire.

Yeah saw that. Guess Coa didn't get the message to not go hellbent from the gate. Frosty Diamond looked pretty green still, thought he ran well to be second.

At least I was right about the 2nd half of the double, which they made Sheila T Rex favored despite pretty poor dirt form. Tesher's a good guy, glad to see him back in the winners circle, I think his last win was on the inner (seriously).

7th -Our Golden Dream is a fair 3/1 right now, a 265K N.Y bred debuting for Bush, by a 33% 1st time turf sire and 17% turf sire from limited starts. This is a pretty weak field of those who have raced, stands to reason if this one is even modestly talented. He should be a force to reckoned with against the other firsters in here. Looks like a good win proposition from here.

8th- I liked You Go West Girl in her last race, I'll try her again today. Hopefully she won't be buried on the rail as she was in her last race and gets a more honest pace scenario to run at this time. Should be tough in the lane.
