Last quarter in just over :23.. I'd say these are some damn good three-year-old fillies we've got.

she looked good, backed up that win a few weeks ago in a big way.

Can't wait when Proud Spell, Music Note, and Zenyatta meet

It would still be nice to see her face a decent size field where she perhaps wouldn't get these easy, circle-the-field trips where she never actually has to go wide.
But even so, all of the races since her debut have been fairly impressive, and her run today was certainly very strong. I think it is safe to say that she is pretty good.

Not really sure why the jock was pushing and whipping down the lane. Why not save something in the tank?

I would prefer to see this filly continue to race over this distance (if that is possible), back over 9 furlongs and I think she could be struggling against the top fillies she is likely to face. She is bred to get a trip and today's performance was probably her best.

she has potential to be a Grade I filly.

She looks great, has great talent and won two races that were called gradeI's in name only.

I am rooting for her to prove herself as a GradeI level runner.

Maybe Saeed Bin Surror told him to try and beat the stakes/track record. It will probably enhance her value if she is known to be a record holder. Just a thought

Huh? How many G1 races does a horse have to win before it is considered a G1 level runner? Both of her G1 victories were over small fields to be sure, but they weren't exactly terrible G1 fields by today's standards and the 3yo filly division is (unfortunately) about as good as gets right now.
Labels of this nature are of course subjective, but I think she definitely deserves to be called a "G1 filly" based on her performances this year.

And I'm sure she was going to run 1:58.

Who does hold the track record there? Was it Skip Away in the JCGC?

The whole "saving something" thing is very overrated.

It always gets applauded as though something great is being done for both the future performance and soundness of the horse ... and while I'm sure coincidental - it seems like horses who win like that most often go sharply in the wrong direction from a future performance and health standpoint.

I remember Achilles of Troy winning a stake by about 12 lengths with a dream trip and Alan Garcia was replaced on him because he rode him out through the stretch.

He won easily without Dominguez ever moving on him next time - saving something for his next start where he ran poorly and was vanned off.

The dumbest quote of the year to date was Dutrow after the Preakness blaming Smarty Jones Belmont loss because he was ridden out - and ensuring that Big Brown would be perfect for the Belmont because Kent "saved something." I guess he almost left enough in the tank to hold off the maiden Gaudacanal in the Belmont...almost, but not quite.

Smarty Jones had a subsequent Malibu and Big Cap winner take a strong and absurdly premature inside run at him in the Belmont - and he shrugged that move off and disposed of RHT like he was a 40K claimer - and almost had enough left late to hold off a dream trip subsequent Travers winner.

Officer won each of his first five races all under total Victor Espinoza full nelson holds. When put to pressure in the BC Juvenile and Cal Cup Juvenile - he threw in the towell instantly.

Commentator and Montery Jazz already both ran 119 Beyers this year while "never asked at any point" - would they have run faster if hard ridden? Probably not. Did there "easy wins" translate into quick comebacks?

Montery Jazz is now out for the entire year after his 119 Beyer win where the track announcer said something like "Flores is riding him as though this is the start of a steeplechase"

But even if all of that is true, what reason is there to whip a horse who has the race in hand?

IMO, as long as the horse isn't struggling or isn't empty - it should always be ridden out through the wire and not taught any bad habits.

So where were you on the PA forum when it was ME against EVERYBODY else concerning that PLUG?

It wasnt the horses fault that his connections thought he could win the Gotham with a torn suspensory.He was actually a pretty nice colt.

She looked like a grade I horse when she broke her maiden last year.

Just giving everybody a hard time because she has only beaten 7 horses in two grade I attempts. Only one of those was a true Grade I or GradeII level 3yo filly (Proud Spell), and she was hurt by bad racing luck before she was able to offer any actual competition.

IMO they were two miserable races by any standards (unless you mean "today's" literally as in today's CCAO...;)).

I can separate that and see that Music Note looks tremendously talented.
