huh?

They have split it into divisions the last three years or so

Big fan of Afleet Ruler in this spot. Got a real bad ride last time and it was discussed that his last race was a tightener for this spot, not sure what kind of odds will be available though

Should be real short.

Indian Sun looks interesting in the first division.

OMG....Scav, come on. Isn't it obvious he is better one turning? I guess not. That's a horse who is simply better going one turn (7f type horse.) He could get a game 2nd, but this track is gunna play longer than HWD's course. I don't see it. Maybe in the 2nd half of the meet(turf worn down some.) He was a short price for a damn good reason the other day. That wasn't a spot he should of failed in(at all) if he liked to two turn very well. Maybe Gomez can stretch him, but I won't be surprised if he hangs a bit (late.)

I don't know, I think he was out there to get a race into him, with this being the goal. I agree that anything more then 8f is probably testing it, but the race has a little speed that should flatter his close a little.....If I were playing, I would be playing him, based on the belief that his last race was a tune up for this spot.

SCUDSBROTHER 07-14-2008 03:19 PM

Scav, you think they are talking about Nima's home, or her napkin?

This might be a very safe bet, especially since the top 3 finishers of the $45-50k claiming race that went more than 2 seconds faster (with faster earlier splits) the same day aren't in the race.

I see the wide trip, however.

SCUDSBROTHER 07-14-2008 03:27 PM

In the 2nd division , I like these 3 horses. Not, because the others aren't any good, but I think most of them are better 1 turning. Probably one of them will stretch out and win, but I think these three are the best suited for what they are being asked to do.

1 Liberian Freighter Flores D R 121 L
13 Bingham Bejarano R 117 L
14 Rumba Along Nakatani C S 117 L

11-14 are AE's correct?

I like Liberian Freighter a little bit but the horse that's drawing the most interest from me is Tangled Tango. Tough race for first on the turf but Canani can have them ready.

I am not saying I am betting the race and I also like Liberian Freighter, should get a great trip. Gonna watch some replays and look at the sheets and see what I can come up with.

Tango is a game horse. Canani shoots for this meet. Don't particularly like the breeding. He has been tolerating the 2 turns. That may work, again. I think he is much tougher if Devil's Afleet were to scratch. T BAZE is gunna ride until he is 60. A 60 year old brat. I just know it. He's like one of the villain's on the old batman series.

10 pnt move up 07-14-2008 04:38 PM

Not sure with 28 entries this was broken into three divisions like last year?

brockguy 07-14-2008 05:45 PM

can anyone tell me if this is Let Us Prey's first US run?? I think he could be a huge runner on firm grass..

eajinabi 07-14-2008 06:27 PM

In the first division I will go for KILDERRY (assuming he gets a good trip from the 10 hole going a mile at del mar).

The reason I like him because I am a sucker for Mitchell's Claiming to Instant Stakes winner angle.

The BET:

$40 WP on KILDERRY

The second division I like MR. KEPPEL Ran behind snail like fractions at GG behind Sky Cape but still rallied to lose by only a half length. His works leading up to it look decent and hes shortening up to mile this time. Looks like I will get 15-1 at least.

The BET:

$20 WP on MR. KEPPEL

Yes, 1st U.S. RACE( off since OCT.) I prefer the Florida bred from FRANCE, but either of them could do it.

I dont see anything with this horse except he has worked well and hes only won one race as the super favorite. Floped at the distance twice and they dont give Lasix.

She's a pretty good trainer, and she(from what I remember) has had some success training for that turf, and I think in this stakes she has done well(maybe just 2nd's though.) She had that turf sprinter from Chicago ready to go off the layoff. He came back and took another, too. Grey horse went off 7-1 or so, and shouldn't of(that was one of the best overlays of the Hollywood meet.) This horse could fire. He has faced better, right? I even think the horse from France may have run against(and beaten) better. This Lady training L.U. Prey is a 27% trainer. The reasons you gave for not liking the horse are legit, but he has faced tougher in those races. I agree KILDERRY has looked like a decent horse with a kick. I still think his kick could be more effective going shorter. This is a step up for him, too. It's a hard race to pick the winner. I will probably take the 2 Euros, and maybe Kilderry. I will probably get beat by the horses who have come 2nd and 3rd in graded races in this country, but I don't know which one(they look pretty similar....the four inside horses.)

SCUDSBROTHER 07-15-2008 05:51 PM

EAJ, I watched the Keppel horse. That horse has beautiful movement. He looks exactly like the type of horses who win at Del Mar early in the meet. I'm not sure if he got a lil tired late, or the others went so slow that they had too much left. I'm gunna go with Liberian Freighter and Keppel in that leg. I'm not quite sure Keppel wants the last sixteenth of a mile, and he will have to be best(cuz this jock can only win with the best horse, or a perfect trip set up.) I don't think he will be that big of a price though. These connections got the big price about 3 weeks ago with W'SCRPT. So, it should take play. To me, he has beaten better in Europe, but it was going shorter.

Great observation on Mr. Keppel Scuds. I had the same conclusion yesterday when watching the replay of him at GG. Did you notice those fractions??? :25 :50 1:15 and yet he rallies from second to last to losing by only a half length. A mile is probably what he wants and if hes 100% tommorow he is dangerous. I also noticed Sadler 4 winners from 5 starts when shipping horses from No. Cal to Del Mar.
His odds will be determined on how sky cape does in the first division.
