God I love this field.

Since I'm not playing this weekend, will sit back and root for Sweeter Still, Final Fling and Runforthemoney.

Come home safe, girls. :)

SCUDSBROTHER 07-01-2008 07:33 PM

Sweeter Still is the filly that's about the size of a Great Dane, right? What a lil gangster.

As the president of her fan club, it goes without saying I'll be rooting for Lethal Heat :)

American Oaks

There's money to be made here. . . one of these euros almost has to win by default. I'm thinking Satan's Circus.

Is anyone else like me and wants to see Zenyatta lose because her owners are taking the conservative route and keeping her in with what they know she can dominate rather than taking a chance and sending her to face the boys? How boring it is watching her prove over and over what we already know.......that she's the dominant filly. It would have been much more fun for me as a fan to see her try the Hollywood Gold Cup. I would have liked her chances with Heatseeker in there. I would have loved them with him out. But instead we get to see a steady diet of what's basically the NY Yankees vs. Lincoln High School. Boring.

She has had 5 races, I can see it later in the year but she has trouble still breaking out of the gate. Sealy Hill is not impossible to beat her today if she out trips her.

Who's running with Raw Silk early? I think she's got a good shot to wire 'em.

does it matter? Raw Silks last was a dressed up slow early fast late win, she just will get attacked earlier today and fold up, and she seems to be a wiseguy horse a bit and will take some money.

That's the question I asked. You say she's going to get attacked, but I want to know who's got the speed to run with her early.

I think alot of riders in her last race felt like they would wait and catch her in her last, with 750k on the line they are going to move going into the turn.

you never know how form will transfer with a shipper, but Caribbean Sunset crushes these on paper.

I have no clue what was up with zenyatta but she looked terrible in the post parade and really got tired, though she moved to soon trying to race ride the 5.

Without getting lectured (in poesy) by pgrden on the finer points of the horse genome, Zenyatta takes after 1/2 sister, Balance in a few ways. The main one being she reportedly is a very bad moving horse in the mornings. Note she was scratched twice at SA this winter (officially for "other" reasons), nearly missed the Milady with a "foot" ailment, and also didn't debut until her late 3yo year.

A lot of what I saw today, IMO, however, was the step up to 9f, given her running style, was not in her favor (though perhaps the pace scenario confounds that). In that regard, going 10f against males is doubly dicey...

The French horse Satan's Circus ran a very nice race yesterday at 14-1, Ioritz Mendizabal is a top jockey from France and when he made the trip you sort of had to believe he thought she had a very good chance, just sorry she didn't win. She was the overlay of the day I thought.
