I saw it posted on a thread last week but don't remember where.. Still a neat/sad story none-the-less :) Smarty was a favorite of mine and wear the "smarty Jones" hat at work all the time.

Wow. That was touching... :o

He's easily my all time favorite as well, and I know they are generally very protective of him at Three Chimneys, so hats off to Mr. Clay for getting this together.

That was a neat story. Make-a-Wish is a great organization.

Thanks so much for posting. I had not seen it. Very touching, very classy. This is a side of our sport that the various condeming organizations never seem to recognize. Smarty was our Champion.:tro:

I know! I thought I had a tough day.

I would have been more impressed if they has given him a season to SJ instead of a stuffed horse. Then again what is the difference?

Or name a foal in his honor :) That would be cool.

i tried to name a horse after my good friend PG1985 but they rejected it.

amazing how therapeutic horse riding is for people with disabilities. amazing how patrick was able to use his other senses to measure his surroundings. i took a blind woman home shopping and she would snap her fingers when she entered the room to get a sense of how big the room was based on the echo.

great story and i wish there were more of them.

Bigsmc 07-01-2008 04:16 AM

I loved when they turned Smarty loose in the paddock and Patrick could hear him rumbling by.

These storys ESPN do every year do not fail to grab your emotions...
