Condition book is out. Purses look very Thistle-esque with MSWs going for $11k.

I thought you should know.

What he fails to realize is that it's really remarkable that there are even plans for one in the first place....

They must hsve modeled themselves after the great race-place known as Presque Isle Downs.

Instead of being "the track of the lakes and flowers" - PID is 'the track of the surrounding landfill and trailer parks'

When the place first started - the infield was infested with birds - and you'd find odd stuff like chicken bones all over. Supposedly the birds would bring it over from the landfill and drop it.

they are going to open this year with temporary seating and facilities. construction on the real thing doesn't begin until March. i'm curious what they will offer this year. they'll probably have the track, the barns, some bleachers, some port-o-johns, and some wagering tents I guess. not exactly meydan city, but detroiters are used to it. they've had no thoroughbreds at all for like 10 years.

I think there will be at least one building built. I guess it will be like Arlington was when its grandstand burned to the ground, or like Fair Grounds. Tent city and maybe some mobile pods. I just hope people show up so it can run at least semi-decently successfully. Mr. Campbell is putting a lot into this, and so far it's gone well for them.

I stopped to take pictures when they razed the old track in Livonia, it was sad...:(

Indian Charlie's thread... it takes a village?

Maybe they can borrow some of the BC tents.

We've got one right here at good old Churchill Downs.

The track is in the burbs. It may be a tad noisy from all the airplanes.

Never bothered the horses or people at Keeneland or Hollywood. (At least they changed the runaways at Lexington some years back so that the planes don't land directly over the track anymore.)

why i think the place will be a flop is because it isn't in the burbs, its essentially south of the airport and too far away from the majority of the detroit burbs. you'll get the diehards going out there but i just don't see it drawing any crowds from the north.

I think Luke could call our races from the UPS planes coming over the track here in Louisville. That is how close they seem to be.
