Jones had a filly in his care at Delaware at the end of last years meet found spounged - I would say that would have been the time for him to consider it.

What is he - something like 29-for-64 at the Delaware meet?

He should take the days and tell his owner to shut up.

Aren't steroids now banned at Delaware? It's funny, a high percentage guy at PID who is doing pretty well told me he doubled up on the amount of clenbuterol he normally gives his horses instead of using steroids - which are now banned.

Blaming an overage of clenbuterol on sabatoge sounds almost hilarious.

Rumor has it a guy named Franklin was seen in Jones' barn that day.

Delaware has been testing for EPO antibodies since 2003. Milkshakes since 2006. They jumped and adopted the RMTC steroid testing and penalties before we even can measure levels.

Since coming to Delaware for career start #4 - Stones River won a MSW with a 10 horse field by 4.25 lengths and paid $10.20

Career start #5 was the race he was supposedly sabotaged in - and holy mother of God did he step it up a notch.

Looking like a cinch to win the Travers, Stones River closed from last and unleashed a monster turn of foot to win by 9.25 lengths, in hand, and pay $7.40 as the co second choice in a field of 7.

The even money favorite checked in 2nd. The 3rd place finisher, a 5/2 shot, was 3rd beaten 13.25 lengths. The final time was a supersonic 1:41.13 for a mile and 70 yards.

There were two other dirt route races on the card - the first of which was won by a horse who needed 1:51.32 to get 8.5 furlongs. That translates to the winner running a mere 72 Beyer points less than Stones River.

The other route race, was won by the hard hitting Peter Walder trained Pyramyst, a 6/5 favorite, in 1:43.16 for the mile and 70 yards. The final time was over 2 full seconds slower! Pyramyst scored her 6th consecutive win in the 46K alw race - the feature on the card. Her Beyer was only 20 points less than Stones River.

That was some fine work by the PETA folks - not only did they sabotage both Jones and Squires right before the congress hearings - but if they are that skilled at juicing horses - they had to cash a monster bet offshore on that horse and use the profits to buy stock in CDI!

I know I'm shocked.

I would be interested to know what the level of clenbuterol was found. If it is a just a touch over the level allowed it would be hard to make a case that this was a set up.

and that's probably all it was--horse was given it too soon prior to the race, didn't metabolize it all, and tested positive.

Larry Jones is one of my favorite trainers. I am not saying that he and a few others have a medication edge at Delaware park. Im just defending my man Marion Barry. C'mon he was put into an unfair situation. Nobody is perfect.:cool:

I don't know man, I still think PETA scored out.

They have the really good stuff when it comes to hopping horses.

Seriously though, he is a great horseman. His wife? really does a nice job as well with the horses. She is there talking to them, and you can tell they have a hands on approach with their best stock. It isn't just a stern "push a horse HARD" atmosphere, they have some emotional involvement. Larry is one of the better at working a horse before a race. If there is any weakness in his game it's getting jockeys that suit his horses styles. I am not a GAbe Saez expert, except that he gets the job done when he has the most horse which is a pretty good trait to have.
