NYRA Race Replays and Live Video

What is the story with no race replays on the NYRA site? Do I have to go to a California site to watch NY replays and type in names of horses?

The Indomitable DrugS 06-20-2008 11:19 AM

Only if you want better picture quality and head-on's.

you could record them daily on FSN.

Where exactly is this? On the NYRA site it says they are no longer available. I actually can do most of my handicapping with calracing.com but you have to enter in horses names.

For regulatory purposes, NYRA is not permitted at this time to provide a link to our race replays. NYRA understands and regrets this inconvenience for our fans who have come to rely upon these services.

Please be assured NYRA is doing everything within its power to work with the New York State Racing and Wagering Board to restore this link to our web site as soon as possible.

Not only that; you can't even get live audio on the NYRA site any longer.

So, before we can even begin to bitch about the QUALITY of the NYRA replays (SIGNFICANTLY WORSE than LAST YEAR) we need to actually be able to access them.

Only in racing do they HIDE their DATA. It's precious; bet your money but we'll go out of our way to make sure you can't obtain basic information.

This is a regulatory issue, along with the takeout hike.

I am sure it isn't NYRA but the racing board, but how can you have racing without making replays available? You can get all of them through calracing.com but why should I have to go to calracing to get new york replays?

Calracing's replays are pretty good. . . Just stick with those. . .

the_fat_man 06-20-2008 12:05 PM

I don't know what I'd do if not for calracing.

Probably, I wouldn't be playing.

Too bad they don't get all tracks.

And, too bad racereplays.com doesn't quite get it with their use of realplayer and only panshot replays.

I'd pay for full, clear replays. I'd also pay for ACCURATE data.

I'm sure others would as well.

Only in racing would something that's in demand not be made available.

So you not only need to try to beat a ridiculously difficult game; you also need to do it with less than optimum resources.

They are fine. You just have to enter the name of the horse instead of pulling a date and race for the track.

Actually Racereplays.com now has both Windows Media and Real Player, plus Head-Ons available.

"In the NY law OTB has the sole license to present live video of racing outside of the racetrack in NY state. OTB has pressed Albany so that they enforce this law. That is why NYRA or can not show its product(live feed) on the NYRA website or Twinspires can not offer video of New York racing in New York. Now with the latest round of racing legislation OTB has pressed Albany so that NYRA can not even show replays of the product on the NYRA website."

NYC OTB are AHoles!

Is that definitive? Are there headons for ALL their tracks or just some? (which is what I was told last time I checked.)

Moreover, MP is probably just as bad as RP, imo.

The streams on the CD/AP/CRC/FG sites are much clearer, as they use FLASH.

Hard to see the leads on MP and RP.

OTB's are dinosaurs. They are doing everything to justify their existence. There is no longer a need for OTB's. They should shut down about 90% of them.

You can watch NY races on Twinspires, and their replays too....not sure how old that article is

Since they carry like 75 tracks I won't go through every single one to check since you probably don't care about Zia Park. Which one's do you want to know about.

NYRA - Yes, Head ON
Monmouth - Yes
Churchill - Yes
Calder - Yes
Hollywood - Yes
Arlington - Yes
Suffolk - Yes

I'm guessing if the have Suffolk, they have it all. But they don't have an entire library of history. I think the Head-on's are just for the most recent stuff, when they re-vamped the site.

But then you can watch more than one race of a particular horse of interest easily.

That's good enough. If they have the headons for those tracks then it's definitely the way to go.
Thanks
