THG gets ADW negotiating nod from Cali

The Thoroughbred Owners of California has authorized the Thoroughbred Horsemen's Group to conduct simulcasting negotiations on its behalf, the organization said late Tuesday, a development that could jeopardize the widespread availability of California signals on account-wagering sites.

This might be a good thing actually. Personally, if ALL signals are represented by this THG, that gives them large bargaining power, although, it seems the negiotations are all separate, at least their is relationship building there, I guess

now thats smart...

The Thoroughbred Owners of California is prepared to prevent Del Mar from making its signal available to out-of-state customers of national account-wagering platforms unless the signal is made available to all account-wagering operations or the group's horsemen get a higher percentage of the bets, the top official of the TOC said on Wednesday. 8 days to Del Mar and no news on a resolution.

Looks like opening week of Del Mar will be a no go for ADW's.

Stay confident on that.. Was told the other day that TOC (specifically Drew Couto) believes things are going to be worked out. (That was as of last Friday..)

Well excuse me for being pessimistic. It's not like any of these agreements have been met on time. How dare I not follow the company line?

Well, at least it's not as bad as what happened to me 2 yrs ago in Vegas. Opening day of Keeneland fall meet.... no contract, so no bets on the first race. They did settle it during the first race, so you could start betting on the second... of course, I had the cold TRI on the first and couldn't bet it.

One of these days, hopefully quick, the people will learn that the take is a function of how much is bet on the track... and if you withhold from adw's, then the overall take is dramatically lower, which means they're ALL losing money on it.
I know if I was running one, I'd want my signal put on everything. More people watching it, more betting on it, with similar takeouts (which is a given), then that means I'm making more $$ and can also put more into the purses for the horsemen. But then again, that makes sense, so it won't happen! :zz:

Is this the same dispute that has Ellis Park cancelled for now?

no. This one's only for the CA tracks (at least as of now).

So, it appears that no ADW's will be taking bets outside of CA?

I miss betting Del Mar. I hope they get things worked out in the next week.

Coach Pants 07-14-2008 07:56 AM

Still no deal.

SHOCKING

Tuesday, 9AM EST, still have not seen anything official on this.

YouBet is promoting on their site that they will have Del Mar. TVG is running promos that they will have it. Is that wishful thinking or are we to assume that something has been finalized?

Alan07 07-15-2008 08:18 AM

Youbet is now the official ADW of Del Mar

XIIPointStables 07-15-2008 10:32 AM

This surfaced this morning...
