Zaftig got a 113...sadly those numbers are practically unheard of lately.

Are you sure of that?

I thought it was 107 or 108.

That's a bit of a questionable figure - it would give Indian Blessing a 105 as well. Forefathers ran the same time at the same distance earlier in the day.

Just from glancing - it looks like they have the track slowing down some.

Holland Hacker 06-09-2008 03:43 PM

I think the track did slow down through out the day. The first race went as fast or nearly as fast as the True North.

I do remember thinking that the track was getting slower as the races went on.

The Indomitable DrugS 06-09-2008 03:46 PM

The winner of the first had a dream trip and ran huge - and I think the True North was really lacking, but yeah, it's very possible I suppose.

jcs11204 06-09-2008 03:54 PM

so 113 ? does that mean at a mile, she would destroy zenyatta ?

hockey2315 06-09-2008 04:03 PM

They must have changed that fig because it was a 107 yesterday. . .

I've read that they weren't able to water the track for awhile.. which would maybe explain the track slowing. Supposedly it was a lot more loose or sandy for the belmont stakes.

blackthroatedwind 06-09-2008 04:12 PM

Beyer may be on ABC Nightly News tonight.

Hopefully he will touch on the apparent split variant from Belmont Day. Let's be honest, it's a far bigger story than Big Brown.

The final time seemed really slow too... but again, the horses who ran are really slow so that may have something to do with it!!
