Grade 1, $750,000 Whitney Handicap 8-5-6

Flower Alley, last year's Jim Dandy and Travers winner, worked six furlongs in 1:11.63 Monday morning at Belmont Park. He is being pointed to the Grade 1, $750,000 Whitney Handicap on Aug. 5.

1'11'63, wow thats racing time.... this horse is looking dangerous., his mile time last out was also impressive for the slop no less.

who else is pointed here ??

Invasor?

I think block needs to figure out in his own mind what he really thinks of Flower Alley. Today, it's this, yesterday, it was that:

if giacomo wins his next three races, that would be defeating lava man and PD in the PC, and that overrated flower alley in the BCC, then the award would be between Giacomo and Invasor.
and since Gi won the KD, by sentiment he would be HOY.

sorry if that disturbs you..

i have new data and now have chnaged my opinion.
1'11'53 gets your attention

and while i am flattered (not the horse)that all you have to do with your time is memorize all my postings, it would be nice and even more benficial, to everyone ,if you focused more on creating your own posts which make HORSES the main subject of the post ,not another poster as the main subject.

do you have any data on the whitney, which is the title to the thread, (not entitlerd please point out the inconsistencies in posters comments)

All of this HOY BS. Lava Man is the only one that has produced HOY figures so far but several are in position to chalange. The only posibility without farther wins with a posibility for HOY is Barbaro and that is nothing more than a conselation posibility, Giacamo has just stepped up to be a chalanger and is a step or two behind the top few.

unfortunately being almost 2 weeks out I don't even see the nominations listed on the nyra website...only probably be able to pick references from articles.

Flower Alley looked like crap during Derby week. But the horse that showed up at Monmouth was a race horse. I cannot see this horse getting beat in 2006 (unless something bizarre happens). Sit back folks and enjoy watching this horse because you wont see him next year.

I still don't think he'll win the BCC.

on what basis...it's easy to say a horse won't win...who will ?

This horse has got as good as shot as anyone else in my opinion.

slotdirt 07-25-2006 11:04 AM

I don't see how anybody with an objective opinion would disagree that Flower Alley is the best horse in training right now. I think you can make a case for Lava Man, but other than that, Invasor? Come on, now.

Cajun--why do you think he wont win. I mean, heck anyone can say a horse wont win. Give us the reasons as to why Flower Alley will not win the Breeders Cup Classic.

Invasor is the urguyan triple crown champion. he was a terror at three. sooo good they sent him to america to see who could beat him.

and so far not many have. this horse is good, by Candy Stripes.
he can run forever, and if he remains healthy i feel he could give the flower boy a run for his money. they are both very good, and it will be fun to see them race.

Obviously, I don't know WHO will win as of yet since we don't have the entry list. Everyone keeps on talking about FA winning the BCC and I just don't see anything that spectacular about the horse. JMO, but I think that he's going to PROBABLY see some classier horses in the BCC than he's used to seeing.

this is not entirely true, Sheikh Matoum purchased him after the 2005 Triple Crown in Uruguay that's why he racing here.

Jury is still out with this one for me, Discreet Cat just whooped him in Dubai and he's beaten Wanderin Boy, Andromeda's Hero, and what appears to be an injured Harlington since he hasn't worked since prior to the Pimlico Special.

Never said that... I said that he will see classier horses than he's USED to seeing. (Not to mention, he was beaten by St. Liam ;))

I stated my opinion (which I'm entitled to by the way) and there you go. I wasn't impressed with his last race out (although the track was a mess) and to me, he didn't look fully fit. I guess we'll find out at the Whitney how fit he is.

Cajun, it was his 1st race since the BCC, how fit did you want him?

I was actually just prying, knowing you I figured it was a confirmation issue. No ill will meant.

He was very game that day against St. Liam, I'm not very fit yet either after taking the winter off:p

One point, please:

There's absolutely no correlation between the way a horse works out ... and the way he performs in a race.

None ... zero.

A horse who works fast is just as likely to lose as he is to win ... and a horse who works slow is just as likely to win as he is to lose.

Actual past performances aren't perfect either ... but they're a much better guide than workouts.
