Friday Belmont Thoughts

Race 2 - #5 Intoxicating Beauty - I've done well betting Milwaukee Brews first time out and and the trainer's good with FTS. 6-1 ML seems a little low so hope she gets lost on the board.

Race 6 - #5 Upper Gulch looks interesting. . . By Gulch out of Upper Noosh. Hopefully she can overcome her trainer - at least Gomez and Ron Anderson seem to think she can.

Race 7 - will probably use up to 5 in the pk4

Race 8 - you either embrace Say You Will or spread. . . The euros don't impress me but there are a few interesting price horses. The 2 ran pretty well last time for hot J/T combo, and the 3 and 9 showed speed going longer.

Race 9 - Scratch of Awfully Smart means Delosvientos might get another comfortable lead. Also like Angliana.

Race 10 - 2 horse race - Hatta Fort and Gio Ponti

I like the name of the horse in the second race.

I also rarely bet firsters.

HF comes out of a race where the final qtr, projected, is faster than the penultimate one ---so they were accelerating. From the pan shot, it appears that HF should blow by the winner; but doesn't. Moreover, he ran 16 feet LESS than the winner, who was with the pace and wide. The headon shows that Johnny V, on Keep Laughing, came out just enough late to 'intimidate' HF. Hard to say whether it was enough to keep him from going by.

Ideally, he takes a lot of money and GP gets overlooked a bit.

I hope Say You Will goes off the heavy chalk based off the SA downhill race. Those downhills are quirky races and Belmont's grass is much different than Santa Anita's grass. I think 1A Sweet Ransom has the stalk and close style which is perfect for this race.
