Magnificence returned yesterday at Hollywood with a win. There have been 3678 Threads about Big Brown and not a mention of her.

Racing hasn't stopped because of Big Brown....thank God.

Much like racing's problems won't stop with a Big Brown Triple Crown. We're a near-sighted society. Very good point.

how did she look?

Don't know what to make of that race. If you forced me to choose between great and piss...I'd choose the latter.

Her boyfriend, BIGMACK, over at PA was all over that. In fact, he's been anticipating her return very eagerly as if she were his girlfriend away on vacation. Too bad she didn't exactly shine yesterday. Sort of like MACK finding his sweetie had gained a few pounds in the interim.

Not very good, had to work real hard to beat her stablemate actually, down the stretch she looked like she was beat, and beat bad but she grinded it out.....

ArlJim78 05-19-2008 09:37 AM

it was a long layoff, but she was all out to beat her unheralded stablemate yesterday. still she's undefeated and I guess still has a fair amount of upside.
i'm not convinced that she'll stretch out well, if that is what they intend to do with her.

zippyneedsawin 05-19-2008 09:40 AM

It wasn't the most impressive return. But like other said, it was off a long layoff.. and on the cushion track. so who knows?

Maybe cause she looked like a shell of her former self?

hockey2315 05-19-2008 12:02 PM

It was definitely a disappointing comeback. . . I thought she'd be one of the best horses in training this year. . .

geeker2 05-19-2008 12:17 PM

just barely got it done..but was carried quite wide at the top of the stretch...but still should have dominated..but didn't.

King Glorious 05-19-2008 12:29 PM

I never like the layoff excuse for a horse that was able to win their career debut. Especially as impressively as she did. That told me she could run well without having to round into shape. I was thoroughly disappointed in her return.

She won how disappointed could you be. Is she suppose to win by 10 in her firse race in forever? Your tough geez

It's tough to expect stakes horses to look like stakes horses when running against lower level types?

freddymo 05-19-2008 01:56 PM

Wasn't it like her third race? Have a heart...Obviously something went wrong with her and she needed time. She comes back at 6.5 wins and you are disappointed.. Perhaps when she won at first asking she wasn't coming off an injury?

Perhaps. Who knows, maybe she comes out next time and wins by 20 earning a 120 Beyer? But that won't have anything to do with yesterday's race. Yesterday, I was disappointed because I wanted to see more. Now, that doesn't necessarily equate to saying she was disappointing. Just that my expectations weren't reach so I was disappointed.

What do you expect from KG, he just suggested that a horse able to win its debut against NON-WINNERS is somehow obligated to win its comeback following injury against multiple WINNERS in impressive fashion.

Not to mention handle a dramatic surface switch from dirt to synthetic.
