Anyone else tired of it?

This was posted on a website I visit for local horse people in So. Fla. She does horse stories that are in the local paper. (some of you probably have heard of the Palm Beach Post)

"I'm looking to do a column on the local reaction to the tragic death of Eight Belles at the Kentucky Derby. I believe that she was too young to be racing and that her joints were not mature yet. I'm interested to get everyone's take on what happened to her. I'm especially interested in people who own TB's. This might be an upcoming story if I can get a local perspective.
Thanks!
Amy B. Doucette
Palm Beach Post"

What bothers me is some of the replies this woman is getting. Anywhere from "I blame the jockey" to "Horses shouldn't be racing so young" to "fillies shouldn't race colts". Makes me very angry.

I thought this was going to about Better Than Honour making Casino Drive threads, or at the very least about onebadbeast telling us about his scores.

Yeah, I'm sick of it. I'm sick of hearing about it, I'm sick of reading about it, and mostly, I'm sick of defending this sport to people. But I guess I'll keep doing it. I started a new job this week and had to go to an orientation seminar for 2 days. On the first day we all had to introduce ourselves and tell a little about ourselves and our interests. I only briefly mentioned that I owned a couple of Thoroughbreds and the CEO of the hospital stepped up and began to question me about the Derby and Eight Belles. BIG black eye for the sport, unfortunately.

i think it depends on where you're located as to how much of this you hear. everyone at work knows i follow racing, but no one mentioned it this week. but just about everyone is/was involved or has family involved in rodeo and barrel racing, etc.
