Not sure how you figure that, it looked to me that he was stretching his distance limits in the ark derby.

done little wrong - yes
consistent - yes
chances of wearing the roses - not good imo. chasing Big Brown I think will be his undoing.

I like this horse but think that a minor placing would be his ceiling as they say. with a dream trip he might be this years Sedgefield.

Unless Big Brown and Pyro dont fire. I hope he wins it . I put a few bucks on him at 57/1

Then again, Sedgefield is a full brother to the '07 champion turf horse, who did his best work going a mile and a quarter or farther. Unfortunately, Gayego doesn't have that stamina blood- not that he couldn't find a way to go a mile and a quarter, I just don't see it.

Danzig 04-28-2008 05:44 PM

look at the ones getting the most attention-none seem to scream 10f when you look at the pedigree. does anyone really think big brown is a 10f horse?

i'll put up gayego before most of the others.

not the worst play having a few bucks on him at long odds, because I think he will be around for at least 8 furlongs.

nor can i really, Gilded Time? I just like game horses like this one who show a propensity to be a factor every time they run.

Actually he's a turfer, but yes... Nureyev on the bottom gives some pretty stout distance ability. And watching his races, he finishes STRONG.

Oh, from a horse perspective, I really like him. He just brings it, every time, any surface, anywhere. Just don't think this is his ballgame, and will probably be my toughest toss.
Horses like Pyro who got drowned as soon as he was "uncomfortable on the surface" don't do it for me.

SCUDSBROTHER 04-28-2008 05:51 PM

Always liked him,but I think he would have to really like the track(improve some.) He's gunna win the beauty contest though.

Danzig 04-28-2008 05:57 PM

wait, so big brown gets stamina from nuryev, but gayego doesn't from lost code? how do you figure that?
and i'm thinking big brown will suffer as he's by boundary, a sire of sprinters.

That's for sure.. A good-looking colt if I've ever seen one.

Lost Code's top earners have all been sprinter/miler types (Kalookan Queen, etc.)... despite the fact that he was best at a mile and an eighth.

Thunder Gulch 04-28-2008 06:24 PM

I fear Gayego because I think he's good and I'm not using him because I do think he stops after 9f.

johnny pinwheel 04-28-2008 06:39 PM

i like him too. the arkansas deby has been key recently. but i like the horse that was second better. z fortune should get a nice stalking trip. i think hes assmussens secret weapon. the crop is not that good and this race has been turning out the good ones . both of his entries could run big

Danzig 04-28-2008 07:21 PM

z fortune might manage yet another board finish...but a win? i'll be shocked.
