Evangeline announceer

What does this guy say at the start of every race? Is it French? Es ti partee? or something like that?

hockey2315 04-24-2008 09:24 PM

et son partis or something - i think it means and they're off in french. . .

2Hot4TV 04-24-2008 09:37 PM

Sounds like he says "This is some party" .

ils sont partis translates as "they are away" or "they have left" according to Babelfish translation software. This has been starting call at Evangeline Downs for many, many years.

Being from down here in Louisiana and raced many times there, yes they aways start every race like that. Part of our culture and there was talk of the phrase being done away with, and the horsemen were not having it.lol When I was old enough to really watch and understand race calling, we were watching a race on tv and the announcer was calling the break, and my mom said I turned to her and said "Ohhhh he is gonna be in so much trouble, he didnt start the race right". :D I thought all races started by that phrase.

What kills me with EVE is that camera work.....good lord, down the lane all they have is a close up of the leading horse and then you see a shadow comming into the screen, and you have no idea who or what it is. Horrible camera work there.

i heard he had done away with it for a while and there was an uprising!!

MISTERGEE 04-25-2008 02:46 PM

i think its an abreviation for "this is a 14 horse field, the super will pay over $20,000 and you wont have it" or something to that affect.
