Damn those look like some big fields if all those horses go.

16 horses in the 12 furlong turf race - and 12 taking on Curlin.

The Bid 03-24-2008 10:20 AM

That Cocoa Beach has really been impressive. Im looking forward to seeing where she fits in with those boys and wont be surprised if she beats them.

No Etched???

Scav 03-24-2008 11:54 AM

I don't know much about all these horses, but the Duty Free looks absolutely loadedDubai Duty Free

Linngari
Bullish Luck
Literato
Darjina
Finsceal Beo

declansharbor 03-24-2008 12:01 PM

I'd be shocked if Great Hunter got more than 10 dollars bet on him to win the DWC. Even hunters and numbers players will have a tough time delving into that one.

brockguy 03-24-2008 12:20 PM

The Duty Free looks the best race on paper, such good.. Seachange a 7 time G1 winner in NZ is 50-1, just shows you how good it is.. you can get 66-1 on Great Hunter for the DWC..

Vermilion could be the best of the rest in the big one. 4th last year, improved throughout last year and won his prep well.

of the others in the Godolphin Mile, Rosberg could run a huge race. hes 7 but lightly raced and has some good course performances behind his name,.

The Bid 03-24-2008 12:59 PM

TheSpyder 03-24-2008 01:06 PM

I think HRTV is carrying them live and from what I've heard, Youbet.com will be carrying the video also. Lastly, if you can wait, I think ABC Sports shows them in "tape delay".

from BloodHorseNOW.com... (Edited press release)

HorseRacing TV will provide live coverage of Thoroughbred racing's richest day when it presents Dubai World Cup Day from Nad Al Sheba Racecourse in the United Arab Emirates on March 29.

Carolyn Conley and Jeff Siegel will anchor the coverage beginning at 9 a.m. EST. In addition, HRTV's Scott Hazelton will be in Dubai reporting for the event's World Feed, which HRTV will carry. Dubai World Cup Day is the crowning evening of the annual Dubai Racing Carnival, which HRTV has aired this winter.

The 13th running of the Dubai World Cup program offers seven stakes races and combined $21 million in purse money. The headline event is the $6-million Dubai World Cup (UAE-I) at 1 1/4 miles. The race will be headed by the 2007 Horse of the Year Curlin, who opened his 4-year-old campaign with a dominant performance in a prep race from Dubai in February. The Steven Asmussen-trained superstar may face up to 12 rivals. Estimated post time for the World Cup is 1:30 p.m. EST.

The undercard is topped by a pair of $5 million turf events: the Dubai Duty Free (UAE-IT), with a scheduled post-time of 11:55 a.m. EST, and the Dubai Sheema Classic (UAI-IT), with a scheduled post-time of 12:40 p.m. EST. The Godolphin Mile (UAE-II) will begin the stakes slate at 9:40 a.m. EST.

I thought the horse formerly known as Premium Tap was sick. Now they plan on running?

Cajungator26 03-24-2008 11:32 PM

Don't know about anyone else, but I'm looking forward to seeing Numaany. I can't help but remember that bizarre stretch run from last November at Aqueduct... :D

RolloTomasi 03-25-2008 12:12 AM

How does Curlin's form stack up next to Invasor's? I know a year's time can mean a world of difference, but Premium Tap arguably could have given Invasor more of a tussle with a different ride in last year's DWC. Desormeaux visually seemed hell bent on looking around for an eased up Discreet Cat, with about 10 under-the-shoulder glances to the inside at the top of the lane. Never mind that Invasor was ranging up to his horse's neck on the outside. Even after he got headed, Desormeaux didn't really get after Premium Tap (who seemed to get back on the bit late) until deep stretch.

Of course, all of this fantasia is moot if Desormeaux retains the mount for this year's running.
