Worked 4 furlongs in :46 at Palm Meadows (wow) and seems to have the stamina...

As for whether or not he's a legit contender, I have no clue. Haven't seen enough of this colt to have an unbiased opinion.

Bill Finley wrote an article about him a few weeks ago: (http://sports.espn.go.com/sports/hor...ill&id=3230176) Apparently their primary objective at this point is the Belmont Stakes.
I started a thread about the horse in the "International Racing" room awhile ago, but nobody seemed to know much about him.

Heard talk of this horse on "ATR" on Tuesday. Steven Allday I believe it was. Said it was rumored to have a tendon issue and that the :46 workout was for a sale..... Other than that he said he liked the horse, but not much of a chance on making it/winning the Derby.

If nothing else, he's interesting. How many 2yo's do you know that have beaten 3yo's going any distance, let alone a mile and a half?!?!?

The Bid 02-21-2008 08:09 AM

Hed be lucky to be an allowance horse

Coach Pants 02-21-2008 08:18 AM

The Bid 02-21-2008 08:39 AM

Anybody who likes this horse is in for a very rude awakening when he runs

Fortanyo the horse that ran second to Tomcito in a stake was an unraced national horse, meaning he was bred in Peru. The national horses would be lucky to win at Beulah, yet Tomcito beat him by only 3. For the record that was Tomcitos 5th race. A maiden ran second, and it was a national maiden.

Tomcito was defeated by an unraced maiden named Codigo De Honor. Hes a better bred ARG horse. That was after Tomcito had raced twice.

I take back what I said about the horse being lucky to win an allowance. He will be lucky to win for 30 straight 3s.

don't worry, i speak spanish... i got it ;)

actually i think it'd be a cool story, but it ain't happening any time soon. I'd be surprised to see him competitive at the allowance level.

He'd win a few allowance races at Del Mar.

The Bid = dumb, dumb, dumb...

First of all let's point to his little jpeg of the Hipodromo de Maroņas, a racetrack/casino that reopened a few years ago. Uruguay is not even considered among the elite of horse venues in South America. Peru's horse racing compared to Uruguay is like comparing the Yankees to a college ball club.
I quote El Bid: "Tomcito was defeated by an unraced maiden named Codigo De Honor."
Codigo De Honor was sold to Saudi Arabia for over a million dollars.

I quote El Bid: "The national horses would be lucky to win at Beulah"
Did you know that Dominguin (Peru) beat INVASOR in Dubai?
Yes, The Bid is a ******.

I quote El Bid: "Hed be lucky to be an allowance horse".
Mmmmm...Tomcito came in 3rd in the Florida Derby after a 5 month layoff. Can a forum member be this dumb?

I quote El Bid: "Anybody who likes this horse is in for a very rude awakening when he runs".
This guy is just taking advantage of his right of "Freedom of speech". Thank God we are awake now.

Peru has one of the most beautiful racetracks in the world bar none. To win a Grade I in Peru is extremely hard. Next time, please don't pay attention to a narrow minded guy like The Bid.

If anyone has questions about Tomcito, I will be more than happy to answer.

cowgirlintexas 04-01-2008 07:04 AM

I still like the horse and look forward to seeing him run back.. I don't think he disgraced himself by his coming at the end 3rd. I think he still has a chance in the Belmont perhaps.
