Tampa Friday: 53k Carryover

Race 6
2 Delaware Diamond – exits excellent race with 3 next out winners including Stormin Yank who won going away in allowance company
(Also considering: 10 Follow Orders, 8 Out In The Open)

Race 7
11 Drinkwater - since he drew in I will single
(Also considering: 4 Rahoo, 2 GreyLock)

Race 8
1 Classy And Elusive – caught in speed duel and ended up 2nd to Red Liquor N' Lace last out
6 Sage's Dream – class dropper with past figures that could win and draws better jock
10 Red Liquor N' Lace – won last out in same company closing, should get enough pace to close into
11 First Lady on Tour – class dropper and probable front runner, include at price

Race 9
1 The Works – 19% trainer FTS, 14% Sire FTS, draws Vern Bush?!?
5 Lear's Luv – 6% trainer FTS, 13% Sire FTS, strong workout pattern
6 Whatyouwanttoknow – 20% trainer FTS, 14% Sire FTS, strong workout pattern

Race 10
7 Shipwatch – good connections, strong turf pedigree, stretching out and could wire this field
5 Mandu Genius - adding in a wide open race, should be able to close into these
(Also considering: 9 Seize, 13AE Lucky Leo)

Race 11
11 Last Shake – nearly won last out in same company before fading, slight cut back in distance
12 Hot Shot Brown – class dropper should be good enough to compete here
(Also considering: 3 Win For Gold)

Scace using Vern is baffling to me. Her go to guy is Cotto, who ended up on the 5. She has several others she uses, and probably the rest of the room wanting to ride her horses....and she chooses Vern?

Rudeboyelvis 02-15-2008 09:53 AM

got a ticket formulated, waiting on scratches to see if we get any changes in 7th or 10th...The 9th is a complete an utter crapshoot, and a clear signal that they want this P6 to carryover into Festival Preview Day...Can't say I blame 'em, but there is zero chance of me chasing either the P 4 or the P6 today with real money

No time to look at the whole sequence, but I did look at the 7th race. My only bet today is #4 Rahoo. Love him on the stretch out.

GL today boys:cool:

He'll be a nice barometer for Shipwatch (in the 10th). Of course, Shipwatch was blocked pretty much the length of the stretch last out, while this one had a clear, last move run.

Jamie Ness is the best trainer in the world.

I see where Drinkwater drew in for the 7th race and Velez jumps off Rahoo. Velez played a part in my betting Rahoo today, as I think he is one of the top judges of pace in the grass at Tampa. Unfortunately, had to make the bet before I left the house this morning. Willie is certainly a capable subsitute.

It's either him or Scott Lake

I think going from ONE to TWO turns on the grass, especially if never attempted previously, is one of the most difficult things for a horse to do. There are all kinds of footwork issues that come into play. This almost never works at BEL, or SAR, for example. In fact, this move is typical of the LOWER IQ trainers.

Yet, it seems to do a bit better on 'smaller' tracks.

To take a horse like Shipwatch, that tried hard last out and never got a chance to run until very late, and then ROUTE him FOR THE FIRST TIME EVER off that effort, is mind boggling to me.

Rahoo, on the other hand, at least has routed once on the turf and didn't have a 'frustrating' trip last out.

Bigsmc 02-15-2008 01:48 PM

Made it back to the computer in time to add Drinkwater and play the ticket.

Pool is over 100k...

GL all.

Oh wow, that hurt. Thought the 8 was going to blow by on the inside and he just hung there.
