I'm sure we've touched this before so I apologize. In the Saratoga area who would anyone recommend to shoot a few nice pictures of a foal. My first thought was Barbara Livingston but she must be very busy.
Thank you.

Dave Harmon (Saratoga) and Skip Dickstein (Stillwater) both are Blood-Horse contributing photographers. Both terrific.

Thank you very much.

Barbara is awesome but I like Dave Harmon as well. He owns the Stadium restaurants in Saratoga. Most of the stuff on his wall is his photography. Nice guy as well.

I would love to help you out but it would be a four hour drive for me. I think my work is good, but it is still a hobby, for me although I have sold some photos from my website.

What type of photos are you looking for? What are you going to do with the photos? Do you want print outs or just electronic "prints" to display on a website or computer?

I assume if you hire Barbara Livingston, Dave Harmon or Skip Dickstein you would be paying for the their time, photos as well as their reputation.

There are probably some amatuer photgraphers in the area that would be willing to do it for free. It is quite common for Models to exchange their time for a photographers services and a portfolio. You may want to contact a local camera store and see if there is anyone in the Saratoga region that would be willing to do that for you.

If I could get up there I would be happy do it for you. Let me know your time frame and maybe we could work something out.

you could always get pillow to do a portrait. he does so well with the 'paint' program on the computer.

Thank you Holland and I hope your hobby continues to evolve. I am leaning toward a photographer in the Saratoga area simply because of the flexibility of the timing. I'm not sure yet when it's a good time for a photo spread. But I do appreciate your offer of assistance and will keep that in mind.

I think a conformation photo, a portrait, and an inspiring mood photo is what I'd like. In June I'm guessing so he has a beautiful groomed coat and more size. He's a young yearling bay.

That makes sense.

Please do keep me in mind. If you want me to come up in June I could probably swing that very easily as my sister in-law lives in Delmar, NY and my wife would probably like to go up and visit her without having to go to the SPA. Just let me know, I'd even be willing to do it for free to get the experience. You can check out some of my photos at my website:

Just let me know, and no pressure.

Um, Barbara does lots of this. Never hurts to ask.

Your work deserves a bump on this thread Holland. I'll contact you in May about a photo. I'm thinking a conformation pic. The farm has been in the family for 125 years. The colt was born and is being raised there. http://www.irishhillcenturyfarm.com/

I will also work with Skip Dickstein on a photo. He lives 4 mi. from the farm. http://www.skipdickstein.com/

Enjoy your craft.

Thank you all for your kind words.

I truly enjoy photgraphing horses, but can not give up the day job. I will continue to hone my craft.

Bill
