Georgie Boy

Now that was impressive!

Coach Pants 02-10-2008 06:22 PM

It's a closers track.

I was impressed the way he rated and came from off the pace at 7f. Looked good now lets see him around 2 turns.

Hoist Her Flag 02-10-2008 06:27 PM

Into Mischief will rate more stretching out. Very impressive gallop out by Georgie Boy 69-1 on his futures.

I'm not really sure what you can determine from a four horse race on a mystery surface. . .

Hoist Her Flag 02-10-2008 07:03 PM

yes agreed

Yes, 4 horse field, mystery surface, nothing really to be gained by going all out. Paid workouts.

I don't think you will find a Derby winner coming out of the west this year, so the mystery surface realy doesn't matter.

He could not have done what he was asked to do much better.

The Kentucky Derby is not in his best interest due to his pedigree limitations, and for the risk of upsetting his form which opens him to some relatively easy purse opportunities over the synthetic. He has proven to handle Del Mar, a huge advantage. Running style, pedigree and his ability to run over the different synthetics causes the question of potential to handle a firm going of turf. A purist would want to know if he could one day get a turf mile, but the best business may be to keep him in California, in top form and win as many of these easy stakes opportunities as possible.

Yeah Into Mischief and the Baffert horse were supposed to tire in a 7 furlong race. Load up on Georgie Boy if he runs on dirt. It's not a fluke.

4 horse fields never tell us much but looking at the video Georgie Boy is an impressive athlete, and I loved his turn of foot.

I'll be watching him.

What a neat little horse. Never heard of his sire or dam, but he sure was awesome today. Seems to be a bit on the small side, but what a kick he's got! May turn into my next "under dog" horse to root for in the future. I am aware however of the small field and track etc., but he looked good today. Go Georgie :)

I dont take much from this other
than Mandella warned that Into
Mischief needed to run but really
was not ready due to the rain.

He cannot be pleased. Massive Drama
and Into Mischief have already dueled
each other silly before. Mischief seemed
to be pulling some but it is hard to tell from
the replay... Massive drama had the screen
to himself on the front end.

It sounds like the owner and trainer mapped out a way to the roses after he won at Del Mar. The weather pervented him from going earlier at Santa Anita and in the interview after this win the owner hinted at the K. Derby. I wish them luck.
