MAKE WAY

Alan Goldberg sends out a 2nd time starter in PHA 6th today that is a half brother of the doomed CHACE CITY.. Victory Gallop bay sold for $140k (sire averaged $24k ) as a yearling and is 15-1 off blah career debut 10 days ago. Chace City was quite crooked but very fast..

DADDY RABBIT

Forestry bay from Tagg debuts in GP 2nd on lawn off series of solid works.. $450k Christiana-bred colt is 2nd foal out of breeder's own professional racemare Under the Rug who won 12 times for $500k.. 6-1 ML and gets services of Cornelio..

The second at Gulfstream is an extremely tough maiden turf race with at least a couple that will probably be stakes contenders, especially if Bearactor draws in. I don't know about the Tagg horse. I highly doubt they spent $450K for that horse to run it on the turf. He's really pretty well bred for dirt and I think it's a bad sign he is debuting here.

If I was going to take a shot with a horse on breeding it would be Simmard. For what it's worth, his trainer Roger Attfield scored with Red Birkin, first time on the turf, off one sprint at Woodbine, last year at Gulfstream. Plus, there's plenty of turf in his family.

Agreed.. Not exactly touting either of these as bets per se. Both just caught my eye yesterday looking at backgrounds of todays MSW/ALW runners.

The Goldberg horse is interesting because he runs back quick.. something AG does NOT do too often. (18 times in the last 18 months).

Chace City was REALLY fast early but close to a cripple. (In fact Chuck passed on a chance to buy him saying he wouldn't hold together.)

Another thing Alan Goldberg doesn't seem to do a lot is win.

Amazing with all of the money Santulli spends on horses and the homebreds he gives him.
