You know parity is dead in the NFL when....

You see next weekend's opening lines. All 4 games have spreads over a touchdown. In the years of parity, that would never have happened.

Dallas -7.5 over NYG
Indy -8.5 over San Diego
Green Bay -8 over Seattle
NE -12 over Jacksonville

I'm sure someone from ESPN who's still living in 2002 will bring up parity.....the gap between the haves and have nots is the biggest its been in years.

Haven't bet football in over a year, but I don't see Dallas or Green Bay as that big of favorites.

Ill wait for Pillow to hand down the final verdict but I think the Giants getting points is a strong play

Alot of people will be on there, I expect that line to move down.

The Bid 01-06-2008 11:08 PM

Theyll probably move the line to 6, everyone bets the Giants, and Dallas wins by 3 touchdowns

It won't move 1.5 points, that is alot of movement. My guess is that it goes down to 7 and fixutes there. They were giving the Giant fans some hope with the extra hook on the line...

The dogs are appealing for these four games though

JJP 01-06-2008 11:39 PM

I agree it won't cross 7. All the dogs look tempting.

Coach Pants 01-06-2008 11:44 PM

The only dog with a shot is the Giants. The Cowboys have a horrible defense.

Indy will cover. They are the Rodney Dangerfield this year. All the media attention has gone to the Pats, Cowboys and Packers. Indy is arguably the best team in the league. They've definitely had the most injuries and have shown tremendous adversity throughout the season. IMHO they are the only team that has a shot to take down New England.

Green Bay should cover the 8 at home. This line will trap many people who think Seattle is this dramatically improved team. They exploited a weak offensive line. That will result in a win 95% of the time.

New England should cover. If Hines Ward can psyche out Jacksonville's secondary, then what the hell is going to happen when they face Welker and Moss?

Aren't second round NFL playoff games normally with larger spreads as seeded teams play wild card teams and the weaker of the 3 divisions advance.

Pillow you 'da man here but don't you think with the exception of Pitt-Jaq game the excitement from the wild card round this year is comparable to watching the rain fall at Santa Anita this weekend.

I didn't watch the Bucs-Giants but the highlights were terrible. 24 unanswered through two quarters rarely happens in the playoffs.

The Jacksonville-Pittsburgh game was like getting three root canals for me.

I knew the skins-hawks game was over after the second offensive series for the skins. They should've picked up a few fat guys off the street to fill in for the o-line.

What is really troublesome is the media not talking about the quality of play. It's been abysmal. To me it makes the Patriots undefeated season look a bit overrated in the grand scheme of things. The best thing I can say about them is they are consistent in a league that is severely lacking in it.

THANK YOU !!! i've been screaming for a couple years that quality of play is Terrible at best!! everyone thinks i'm nuts.
the steelers o-line has been a mess all year and ben threw the ball away 3 times and they still almost win. the first 4 times the giants had the ball it looked like eli was goin back to ny in a body bag and the bucs were moving at will. the game then reverses in 1 qtr? what happened to that charger team from last year is a joke. if sd lost yesterday turner and the gm should have been fired before they got to the locker-room. the titans didn't belong in the playoffs, vince young is TERRIBLE and jeff fisher doesn't get paid enough because he does more with less than any coach in the league.
i get a little more disgusted each season.

Fixates, which I spelled wrong in my original typing, is not a $14 word like Byk uses. Dude is a human dictionary. I can barely spell or pronounce words. I always did alot better in math

it's tough not to take the giants. 8-1 on the road and the cowboys have not been playing well.

And just how did Hines Ward "psyche out" the Jags? He's not playing this week; they are. And the "psyched out" secondary picked off Rothlesberger three times. Big Ben had the 2nd best QB rating for the season. The Jaguar D allows opposing QBs a mediocre 76 QB rating. The team that wins the rushing battle covers 70% of the time and the Jaguars figure to win the rush battle.

As for Indy, as good as they are, they've had a lot of injuries. If Harrison plays, how sharp will he be? The D has had injuries also. San Diego matches up well with the Colts; they've beaten them a few times in the past several years.

An eighteen point lead late in the third was evaporated primarily by Ward manhandling and talking smack to Nelson after each reception. Jacksonville had a meltdown and barely won the game.

They won't have a lead on New England. Roethlisberger had the luxery of inflating the meaningless QB rating against Cleveland and Cincinnati, two defensive powerhouses.

What about Gates? What about the fact that Tomlinson has been sulking on the bench like a baby the last half of the season?

KY_Sasquash 01-07-2008 02:41 PM

Indy will crush the Bolts this weekend. Bolts didnt look good yesterday and they were fortunate to win that game. If the Titans had any receivers whatsoever they would've won that game.

Trash talking and sulking like a baby. What a joke. I can't believe anyone would put any stock in nonsense like that.

The whole league trash talks....and plenty of players sulk. Oh yeah, LT finished the year pretty good.

As for the Patriots, they finished the season on a 1-5 ATS run.
