I want my HRTV...

I need help, is there a link to Direct TV, so I can complain to them about
how upset I am w/ them about not offering the HRTV channel.

Dish Network provides both TVG & HRTV.

Now that all 3 NY tracks are going to HRTV for the year 2008.
I'm now left w/ turfway & calder, yippee, it's not to long before HRTV scopes them both up.

Happy New Year!!

I switched to Dish Network for this exact reason.

...

Directv doesn't have a website. You'll have to reach them through pony express.

Go to HRTV.com and follow the instructions to see if you are eligible to get the service. It will tell you that Direct TV does not offer it and they will be willing to send a letter in your behalf to Direct TV expressing your desire for them to carry HRTV. I did it last night after trying to watch the exclusive Sunland coverage on TVG.

Unless you need the NFL package (and I'm about as big an NFL fan as there is and can live without it, especially with NFL Replay on NFL Network) there is absolutely no reason to have DirectTV. The only reason they still exist is cause of the exclusive rights to that package. If you have DirectTV and don't have the NFL package then you are paying a premium for inferior programming to subsidize the insane amount of money they pay for the exclusive rights for Sunday Ticket.

It's my understanding that NYRA signed a non-exclusive with TVG and HRTV, so I'm pretty sure they will be shown on both channels beginning Jan 1. I doubt you'll see HRTV on Directv any time soon. I believe TVG's parent company also owns Directv. If you really want HRTV, switch to Dish Network or check to see if Verizon FIOS is available where you live. The Verizon FIOS TV service carries both channels.

Gemstar, the parent company of TVG, was bought by Macrovision earlier this month.

Wait it out.

Or you can use google to find the feedback page for directv...

wow that's amazing.

Isn't there some connection between Gemstar/Macrovision and Comcast that some people believe will keep only TVG on Comcast? I remember hearing something about this awhile back but cannot remember the connection...

We have a similar problem with TVG and HRTV. TVG is part of the basic channel subscription to cable but you have to buy the "premium" plan to get HRTV which costs about $15 extra a month. I think its a scam to make you upgrade. Either both should be basic or both should be "premium"

From the Thoroughbred Times 12/28: "TVG plans to continue its extensive coverage of NYRA racing." So it appears that NYRA will now be on both TVG and HRTV. Unless TT has it completely wrong.

I have Comcast here in NH and sent along one of those e-mails provided on the site.

Hopefully they'll add it at some point, but I doubt it.

There is some ownership thing that will keep HRTV away from Comcast, I believe. I cannot remember the reason, though. Anyone that can elaborate please do.
