You gotta love his preps for the Derby.....one week and two weeks prior to the race.

"Recurrent ankle problems prevented him from completing a season that was to include the Saratoga Cup and a possible trip to France for the Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe."

There is good and bad in the Native Dancer sire influence. Crossing Native Dancer runs the risk of inheriting those ankle problems.

native dancer was one of those rarities, a star both on and off the track. he also was one of the first t.v. stars for racing, a standout in the days of black and white television.

it's a shame he was lost at a relatively young age, to colic at 17. arguably the best horse to run in and lose the derby, the only blemish on an otherwise perfect record. and his jock got plenty of blame, his ride that day was horrid.

he was one hell of a horse, and one of the best ever on the track.
