Bryant Gumbel

Be thankful for all of you that do not have the NFL network. I can't listen to Gumbel anymore. Worst EVER

I concur.

Gumbel is awful. He sounds like Michael Jackson on crack.

i wish he would go find the rock from whence he crawled, and return to the hole beneath. i can't stand him. only bad thing about having an extra game on an extra channel. pretty bad when you admit you would rather listen to joe buck. <shudder>

I'm sure the NFL network thought they needed to get a "name" to draw attention to their fledgling network, but getting a "name" to call play by play is completely unnecessary when you are the only game in town.

You could plug any real (i.e. someone who does it for a living, not an ex Today Show guy) play by play man in there and they would get just as many viewers. He is horrid.

I'd love to hear Collinsworth off the record talk about trying to do a game with him. It really was bad, both his delivery..you couldn't hear him and his voice doesn't project at all, and his call of the game. They could have dragged Pat Summerall from his rehab home and it would have been better.

Plus..they missed replays, didn't catch officials announcing penalties, etc. Obviously I'm biased against NFL Network, but it was a bad job all around
