He's Solid Gold

This guy is on my watch list... half brother to High Fly and he broke his maiden today in the 4th at the Big A.

He's trained by Zito too... ;)

He ran well. It was a loaded race with the second finisher ( who also ran extremely well ) being an international good thing. He had outworked the Baffert horse who broke his maiden on the Friday of BC weekend at Monmouth. Tagg's horse was also a big story, Coa apparently was in love with him, but the way he ran it feels like something went wrong.

He's Solid Gold had a bit of a trip in his debut but really showed up as a new horse today.

Yes he looked very good winning that race, I also thought the 3rd place runner Barrier Reef a Darley firster owned Mizzen Mast colt might be decent horse and a maiden not for long. He had a tough trip in the stretch.

I thought so too, Andy. I like his style of running (from what I have seen so far) more than High Fly's. I wonder what Zito thinks of him relative to being a Derby horse?

He was very happy after the race and has always liked him. The Derby, however, wasn't discussed.

Yeah, I might be jumping the gun just a little bit. :p

Thanks for the info.

Verbasle was a very nice broodmare. He's Solid Gold was her tenth (and unfortunately last) foal and from the first nine, seven were multiple-race winners.
He looks like he could be a nice colt.

Haven't seen the race yet, but he's built to go long.

As an aside, Slewpy was one of the best NYB's of all time and has become an excellent broodmare sire.
