No Foals for War Emblem in 2007

Story in Bloodhorse. Here is the link.

Now I do not know much about breeding, but what could cause War Emblem to be so reluctant to cover mares? Could it be that process is painful for him, etc etc. Please advise.

Simply very picky. He knows what kind of woman he's looking for. Hasn't found it yet.

Man, In my younger years I wasnt picky at all. I guess War Emblem has a little more maturity than me.

he certainly is an unusual case. I've known some stallions with low libido (when i lived in KY we used to dread taking mares to Thunder Gulch cause you were gonna be there a while) and i've heard of some fussy stallions (there is one stallion in KY right now that only likes grey mares, so they do a bait and switch on him in the shed) but Zero interest is a new one.
Wonder if they've tried viagra, whatever dose Rush Limbaugh takes should be enough for a thousand pound horse lol...

Maybe he just doesn't like Japanese women... :p :D

Cajungator26 07-10-2006 11:48 AM

Well, let's hope they don't do to him what they did to Ferdinand. :(

paisjpq 07-10-2006 11:52 AM

I don't think that's going to happen to any more high profile horses that the japanese bought from the US. too much bad press. but don't think for a second that it's not happening to all the other horses over there that aren't a success (here too for that matter).

I hear he hangs out at the Blue Oyster Bar and watches reruns of Will and Grace.

Trust me, I'm aware. It's a disgrace IMO.

I know Silver Charm has a buyback clause, Three Chimneys has first rights if they ever want to get rid of them. Ferdinand at least didn't die in vain, a lot of things have changed since that tragedy.

Dr F*ager--please explain a buy back clause for me.

Yeah, but the horses that aren't high profile still die in vain. You are correct though... with horses like War Emblem and Silver Charm, they should be safe.

Actually, it's better than that, guarantees his return after penison.

"We received an offer that, at my stage in my life, I could not turn down," said Bob Lewis, who campaigned Silver Charm along with his wife, Beverly, and retained a 75% ownership in the ten-year-old son of Silver Buck. "The contract gives us the right of first refusal to purchase him if he is ever sold, so that we can ensure his well-being, and provides that he may return to Three Chimneys Farm upon his retirement."

I said it was a disgrace that failed racehorses were sent to slaughterhouses.
